Arsenal are currently 6th in the Premier League 5 points behind Tottenham Hotspur and coming out of a loss to Nottingham Forest in the FA cup followed by a loss to Bournemouth on Sunday there is increased pressure for Arsene Wenger to make some important changes to the squad especially with Alexis Sanchez on the brink of a move.
Mkhitaryan or Martial
Manchester United currently lead the race for Alexis Sanchez who has reportedly agreed a £14m a year deal to take him to united but they are still awaiting United’s Armenian winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s decision on whether to make the move or not. However, Wenger is also reported to be looking into the availability of Anthony Martial as another potential signing although United will probably be less likely to part with 22-year-old Martial as he currently still has lots of potential. Although Manchester City are also still in the race for Sanchez they have refused to move on their original £20m offer and Pep Guardiola has refused to offer any players to include in a swap deal.
One of the most exciting deals on the cards for Arsenal currently is the potential signing of Borussia Dortmund’s pacey Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Arsenal have been reported to have made an opening bid of £35m + Olivier Giroud for the 28-year-old who is valued at around £53m. This could be worth it for the forward who has already scored 21 goals in 24 appearances for Dortmund and is considered to be one of the paciest players currently playing the game. Although Dortmund weren’t looking to sell their top scorer, Aubameyang expressed his desire to leave the club for the third time last weekend and it’s beginning to look increasingly more likely that a transfer may go through.
Another name Arsenal have shown some interest in this window is Malcom a Brazilian currently playing for League 1 side, Bordeaux. Although a young player at just 20-years-old the winger has already scored 7 goals this season and assisted 5 more which has in turn attracted interest from some big European clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. With Theo Walcott completing his £25m move to Everton, this covers half the £44m that Bordeaux are want for Malcom but whether Wenger is willing to splash that kind of money on a player that has be called ‘immature’ by some of his team mates remains to be seen.
