The Highbury Library animted promo v5 350x350

Watching David Hillier and Dan Roebuck having a chat on the Borehamwood pitch and I'm wondering how sweaty their armpits must be in this heat. Having to dress up in the heat must be torture. Someone should handcuff Jose Mourinho to a lamppost wearing two thick wooly jumpers and a massive parker coat.

So it's quite a young team out there today, a real chance for the likes of Emile Rowe-Smith to force his way into the managers thoughts for the upcoming season. Possibly the most interesting decision will be to see how Emery uses both Lacazette and Aubameyang in the same side. Will one play on the flank? probably. If so whom will it be? my money is Aubameyang. Wenger got a bit of stick for that so we'll see how that goes. Who knows, we may see them playing together as a two. Unlikely perhaps but we shall see.

It's just great to see Arsenal back on the pitch again.

Lacazette is playing centrally with Aubameyang playing on the left. Interesting.

Laca and Auba switching positions as the latter has his shot blocked inside the box. Oooh! lovely feet from Emile Smith-Rowe. Nicked it past a defender on the turn into the box but couldn't quite keep hold of the ball.

Crikey O'Reilly! Aubameyang has just bent the ball into top bins from outside the box. Lovely strike. Some more of those this season would be nice.

Lovely run from AMN, chips it to the back post for Aubameyang to head in his second in the first 9 minutes or so.

Nice combination between Bellerin and Nelson down the right and Nelson is taken down. Aubameyang grabs his hat-trick with a powerful penalty high into the net. At this current rate, Aubameyang will score 532 goals during a 38 game league season. I'd take that to be fair.

Borehamwood may have scored there but for Cech and some lucky rebounds.

Should have had 4 after some good work from Smith-Rowe down the left. Aubameyang got his left-footed cross wrong. To be fair, I thought Auba fouled a man earlier in the build-up and he got away with it.

Reiss Nelson smashes the ball in for the 4th! Nice take on his chest to set himself up before rifling it past the keeper

Borehamwood with a decent chance headed wide from a corner. Seconds later, Lacazette far too unselfish when he should have scored. His square pass to Maitland-Niles didn't quite find his man, perhaps should have placed the ball into the corner himself.

Lacazette slots in our 5th after a great pass from Aubameyang. Borehamwood are having some joy down our right side. We were lucky to deal with it then we broke and scored. Fine margins and all that.

All fun in the sun at Meadow Park. Obviously, the gap in quality is huge but it's nice to see the youngsters expressing themselves.

There is no way of saying this without sounding like I'm going over the top but I will say it anyway. Emile Smith-Rowe has a bit of the Kevin De Bruyne about him in style and appearance. He's probably been our most impressive youngster that half.

Loads of changes have been made, I've missed the first 5 minutes because this stupid stream (that I'm paying for by the way) keeps cutting out on me.

Ooh! Eddie has nipped into the near post to flick in a Lucas Perez cross. Perez going for the Alexis high shorts look. Martinez who replaced Cech almost dropped a cross onto a Borehamwood player.

Second half team not as sharp as the first half team. No disrespect to Borehamwood but I'd rather team 1 played against team 2 instead.

Ramsey over-hit another pass, he doesn't quite seem as sharp as some others.

Ramsey flicked in a cheeky goal with his heel but he was offside. Kolašinac looks to have trimmed down a little.

A tidy move end with the Jeff blasting in a low strike past the keeper for the 7th Arsenal goal of the game. Can we score 10 before the 90 minutes is over? Ooh! The Jeff has just blasted over moments after scoring his first.

Jenkinson flashing in a cross to the back post but nobody could get to it. I've forgotten about those curling crosses of his.
Bouncy haired Matteo Guendouzi comes on in place of the Jeff.

It's 8! Mkhitaryan latches onto Eddie Nketiah's little flick, and steers it low into the corner of the net. Nice awareness from young Eddie.

The game is winding down now, the intensity has dropped off somewhat.

Well that was fun. Can't take a great deal away from the game given the difference in quality but I certainly enjoyed it.

So let me stop reminiscing of days gone by and let me focus on our Welsh wonder. Let me start off by saying that I think it is quite obvious that Aaron Ramsey is better in central midfield. His partnership with Mesut Özil, his running from deep and his underrated ball winning ability makes him a ...Read more
