How predictable, Wenger is now the target

Why on earth should these teams have to put up with good football, if Arsenal and Arsene Wenger cannot hack it then they should F off back to France

Three days after the incident, the war still rages on. The argument has taken a rather predictable turn, unfortunately it is not in favour of Arsenal football club.

There I was hoping that this would be the last act of violence before something was changed, but I certainly get a sense of déjà vu.

Poor Shawcross doesn’t have a bad bone in his body, he is an honest lad etc etc. This I would expect, I mean he is English after all and we know that English players do not dive unlike their foreign counterparts, so they would never set out of injure a player on the pitch. Not that I believe that he did go out with the intention to break his leg.

So what is my issue?

I shall tell you, the deflection of this rather nasty incident, the third incident in four seasons. Arsene Wenger is now the target from brain dead pundits and former players.

It is the usual suspects I’m afraid. The likes of Stan Collymore and Lou Macari hardly ever have a good thing to say about our manager and now it is Wenger that is in the wrong for speaking out about poor old Shawcross who is in bits about the whole thing and reckless tackles are acceptable.

Why on earth should these teams have to put up with good football, if Arsenal and Arsene Wenger cannot hack it then they should F off back to France.

Ok, realise that they haven’t said that but would I be surprised if that kind of speak was common practice away from the cameras or the microphone? Absolutely not. I would expect it from them.

Macari said:

Having later seen it for myself, and quite a few times at that, I cannot believe what Wenger is saying when he describes it as “horrendous” and “unacceptable”. He’s bang out of order in casting aspersions on Shawcross, a player who hasn’t got a bad bone in his body.

Then we get this nonsense from Wenger about the footballing authorities having to react. React to what, exactly? An unlucky challenge? Those kinds of challenges have been happening since football was invented.

Perhaps we should outlaw the tackle all together and then he’ll be happy. For him to also say it’s no coincidence that his players keep having their legs broken is also a load of tosh. Three leg breaks in five years is unfortunate and you certainly feel for the players involved, but it’s hardly an epidemic.

Arsene, it really is a coincidence and you’ve just got to get over it.

You stupid plank, you really do not get it do you? *deep breaths ahhhhh*

Collymore said:

“But if Wenger, or any Arsenal fans, think there is a connection between Abou Diaby, Eduardo and now Ramsey all getting seriously injured, they are deluded.”

“And I think Wenger was completely out of order with his post-match comments about Shawcross. Despite the belief that Wenger is the professor, he has a real bitter and nasty streak. It is blatantly obvious the Frenchman wants to buck the trend and traditions of English football.”

“But if he doesn’t like English working conditions, whereby players are physical and try to win the ball, then maybe he should disappear to La Liga or Serie A.”

Can you detect the xenophobic undertone in his rant?

I must admit I do get sucked into the whole talksport rubbish and find myself getting very wound up about most of their neanderthal presenters, but since the Ramsey tackle I have managed to stay well away, you only live once and I want to stay healthy as long as I possibly can.

I would like to put this Shawcross incident behind us now and just pray that the authorities do their jobs and stop turning a blind eye on players who plan to physically ‘stop Arsenal playing’

I do not know why I have been scratching my head for so long about why we pick up so many injuries compared to everyone else. Erm, perhaps the fact that we get kicked black and blue may contribute towards that record.

We are talking about three breaks in four seasons or five years, whatever you want to call it. What about all the challenges that badly bruise or tackles that twist ankles.

A few that instantly spring to mind are Paul McShane on Alex Hleb, Kevin Davies on Gael Clichy, Ryan Shawcross on Emmanuel Adebayor. Challenges that could have been equally as bad as those on Diaby, Ed’s and Aaron.

If anyone can remember anymore serious challenges on Arsenal players then please post in the comments section, I may make a little video compilation and write a nice little letter to the football association, not that they will listen to me but the more voices that speak out, the more chance they have of paying attention.

The Welsh boss John Toshack has spoken about his chat with Ramsey and apparently the youngster is in good spirits which can only be good news.

If the rumours are true then six months wouldn’t actually be that bad for an injury so bad. It is clear that Ramsey is very strong mentally and I am certain that he will get through this mentally, as long as he can physically.

Back tomorrow.
