Wenger’s strongest side close to being fielded? & Transfer stupidity

fter a quick flick through our line ups, we haven’t played with what I would say is Wenger’s strongest line up, obviously it is subjective in certain areas. After the spine of the side the remaining variables depends much of the opposition, home or away (not the TV show of course)

A chuffing good afternoon to you Gooners,

An Arsene Wenger press conference is every bloggers dream, he gives you something to talk about, something to discuss. He gives you the pen for your paper, the bullets for your gun, the spoon for your cereal, the fish for your chips and the bangers to your mash. I always find Wenger’s press conferences enjoyable, even many of the journalists themselves have expressed how much fun it is to go to an Arsene Wenger press conference instead of the usual cliche riddled rubbish you get from most up and down the country.

Whilst listening to the injury news update from Wenger, it occurred to me that we may just witness our strongest line up before the season is done, that is if we get through without anymore long term absentees. That would indeed be one for the scrap book to show the grankids.

After a quick flick through our line ups, we haven’t played with what I would say is Wenger’s strongest line up, obviously it is subjective in certain areas. After the spine of the side the remaining variables depends much of the opposition, home or away (not the TV show of course) and form.

At this moment in time I would say that Wenger’s first choice would be the following.

I wouldn’t mind Birmingham or Barca attempting to cope with that side all firing on all cylinders, but I digress. As always. Getting back onto Wenger, he has announced that Gallas is back in training and Van Persie is 2-3 weeks away from returning to the starting line up. How exciting is that? I’ll answer that for you, very exciting. But like I said, it is usually out of the norm if we get through 90 minutes without some type of problem.

Unfortunatley for the short term, we are left with spinal problems that need to be addressed. Thomas Vermaelen’s appeal was thrown out of court on the basis of.. erm. *scratches head* not quite sure. Perhaps because nobody wanted to admit yet further failings from match officials. William Gallas is not yet ready for the hurly burly of thugs Premier League footballers. Further up the pitch, like a long Martin O’Neil team punt to the forward line inform Nicklas Bendtner is due to have a fitness test on his ankle. I thought it was a strange decision to remove him when we went down to ten men against West Ham, well that has explained that decision. Not that Wenger needs to run anything by me?

The subject of Arshavin’s comments came up and like I thought, Arshavin’s quotes were recycled from a previous interview. Shock horror, newspaper in twisted quotes story.

Wenger spoke some more about the Brum game coming up but I think I better save some thoughts for my preview otherwise I will have a blank page with a line up graphic on it.

Some news on the youngsters. Sanchez Watt has joined Leeds Utd on loan, it is a shame that they are going through a bad period, perhaps his introduction can spark them back into life. Jay Emmanuel-Thomas is having such a fun time at the party that he has decided to stay out for longer, or in more simple terms he has just extended his stay at Doncaster. I don’t know why I play around with words so much, a bad habit that I cannot shake off, shaking off just like a wet dog or a….

Barcelona’s Yaya Toure who is set to sign for Arsenal… oh no, this is a different story. I am just used to saying that repeatedly every couple of days.

In fact Toure believes that Barcelona can doof us up.

Toure said:

“Barca are winning matches, despite our rivals changing their systems to cope with us. It is actually a positive for us because it demonstrates that we are able to obtain success against any rival. The tie against Arsenal will be different. The English practice a similar style to us. Who will be favourites? Barcelona, because we are the champions of Europe.”

Go on son, talk the talk. I hope we out football Barcelona and shut them up. If Messi plays like he did in his last match then we will smack them into next week. If Messi plays like he has done recently then they can smack us into a couple of years, that is how good the chap can be but regardless I am confident in our ability. If we can impose ourselves then it will be good fun.

Oh yeah, how can I forget the latest transfer news. Inter coach Jose Moan-riniho has been urged to go after Cesc. Great story that is. I urge Wenger to go after Messi. Lets make that a big story as well. I urge myself to go after Beyonce. Oh and I better urge my girlfriend not to read today’s article.

As time goes on, transfer rumours annoy me more and more. I remember during the George Graham years, my younger more gullible years. Transfer rumours used to fill me with so much excitement. I used to run my parents phone bill through the roof, calling clubcall numbers with catchy headlines about Arsenal being close to signing Andy Sinton or Andy Townsend. I didn’t have tribalfootball or the internet in those days.

Judging by the top stories on newsnow, the attraction of the made up transfer story is very much alive and kicking as it was in the early nineties but instead of top stories, I had a top phone bill and got many a good top telling off for my troubles.

Right enough personal life stories, time to go.

Back again tomorrow.
