Adebayor is probably the only player who would have scored that header that he did against Hull City away. His pace and strength cannot really be replaced by any current center forwards at the club
I am currently writing this on the train shivering my Arsenal off, I stupidly wore a T-shirt under my coat as apposed to something warmer. I wasn’t reminded that when it is snowing that it is probably cold outside. Ah well..
Well we are leading up to the North London derby and we shall be hearing more and more quotes as Sunday creeps up on us. Emmanuel Adebayor has been talking about his current form and goals.
“To be honest, no [I am not happy], because I am a striker and I have only scored 12 goals up to now,” said Adebayor on his form. I know I have missed some chances and need to do a bit more, but that is football – there is no player who scores 10 times out of 10, not even Pele.
“For me the most important thing is to keep believing that I can do it and keep helping my team-mates to win games. That is what we are here for and I think at the moment I am doing that quite well.”
He is right, no player scores 10 out of 10 chances but I am sure he knows that his conversion rate needs to be improved upon. To be fair (is that spelling ok for you?) finishing chances is never going to be his strongest point. He doesn’t look a natural when one on one unlike someone like Eduardo, Torres, Van Nistelrooy etc so it is up to his dedication to develop in that area. Some fans have said that he has look disinterested this season, but I feel that he is suffering from lack of confidence in front of goal and it is affecting his game. Last season Adebayor had a spark about him, he was clearly on a high, being told from the manager that he is one of the best as the manager likes to do, this time round he is well and truly in the shade from the amazing form of Robin Van Persie.
All he needs to do is get his head down and work at the same rate that he produced last season, the goals will come and the hard work will be a huge benefit to the rest of the team.
Adebayor is probably the only player who would have scored that header that he did against Hull City away. His pace and strength cannot really be replaced by any current center forwards at the club.
Adebayor has a fantastic record against the rivals laughing stock from down the road. So lets hope he can continue that and get back on track.
It is likely that we will face a super strike force against Tottenham on Sunday. I mean, they must be one of the best in the world. How can you cost £31 million and not be? Van Persie and Adebayor cost roughly £9.75million together. The question is, do you only succeed with spending?
Many of the expensive talent and management from Tottenham have had plenty to talk about.
Zakora said:
“Yes, when I signed for Spurs, Arsenal also wanted me. I spoke with Arsene Wenger after the (2006) World Cup, but I preferred to come to Spurs because it gave me a good option for my life. I am very happy.”
Based on your performances Didier, we are very happy that you decided to go to Tottenham instead of us. We thank you, and I am sure I can speak for every Gooner out there.
Harry Redknapp said:
“I think we have a chance at home and it’s probably a decent time to play Arsenal, They are a top team, but at the moment their record tells you that they are not playing as well as they did last year.”
Well considering Tottenham’s league position it is a decent time to play Spurs as well.
It seems that Emmanuel Eboue is fit for the Tottenham game which is a relief. I know many of you will be laughing at that but I am genuinely happy because our midfield is currently looking wafer thin right now.
The midfield practically picks itself now.
It means that we rely on Nasri for creativity but hopefully we have enough power to control the midfield.
It is reported that Arshavin has been released from International duty to play in the North London Derby, hopefully he will take a place on the bench. There is very little chance that he will start the game so a place on the bench is a massive bonus.
Lets just wait and see what the manager has to say about it. I will talk more about it in my match preview on Saturday.
I have read like many of you, the comments from Alex Hleb about his Barca future and I just shook my head with disappointment. I don’t even point the finger and laugh anymore. I just feel like slapping him and telling him that he should know better.
He will look at his future at the end of the season if he cannot break into the team. As we know with Alex Hleb, he needs a run of games to gain his best form as Wenger patiently did with him when he signed. He will not get this at Barcelona, some players need to wake up and understand that the grass is not always greener.
I would like to eavesdrop on a conversation between Flamini and Hleb. Let that be a lesson to the rest of the squad, at least the regulars.
Back again tomorrow.
