I believe that if we had the same fight against Fulham, Hull City, Stoke City etc then we would have had a better run of results. I suppose it is a case of finding the correct balance. We have lost a lot of attacking power but we have gained steel
Good evening to you all,
Yesterday Chelsea sacked their manager in his first season, this is after they sacked their previous manager at the end of his first season. What a classy club. I would be ashamed if our board acted in the way that they do.
It appears that Hiddink will take charge at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of the season, I am just pleased that this happened after the January window. We all know what Hiddink thinks of our man Andrey. Not that Chelsea are willing to spend any money at the moment.
Anyway, I thought I would give you a few quick points about where we are from my perspective.
We are in solid form at the moment, which is good to see. I would rather breathtaking confident form but solid form is better than shaky all over the place, inconsistent form.
Had we started the season like this then even with a make shift side we would be in a healthier position. We wouldn’t be talking about trying to get back a champions league place, we would be talking about aiming for the league. I just hope the team can continue to fight and grind the way they did against Everton and the way they did with ten men on Sunday.
I believe that if we had the same fight against Fulham, Hull City, Stoke City etc then we would have had a better run of results. I suppose it is a case of finding the correct balance. We have lost a lot of attacking power but we have gained steel in the likes of Song and Eboue (when he decides to stay on the pitch)
The next few weeks could see an injection of fresh blood as Eduardo is on his way back and primed for action. Unfortunately we will not see Arshavin be handed his debut against Cardiff on Monday as he is not eligible to play. I think Eduardo and Arshavin are two players who would link up very well, Eduardo has superior movement to anyone we have at Arsenal at present. Arshavin has very good vision and likes to find the final pass. Cardiff would have been the ideal testing ground but its not to be this time.
I am not so sure if Van Persie and Eduardo is an ideal partnership though, we haven’t seen it enough to judge as yet but I not sure if they compliment each other. To be honest I am not sure if Van Persie is a player that ideally compliments any type of strike partner. I call Van Persie the player with no position. A graceful, skilful player with powerful shooting. He has grown into the ‘number 10’ position creating many assists for others during the second half of the season so maybe his partnership would work with Eduardo.
I watched Barcelona on Sunday night and was very impressed with their passing and movement. They remind me of an Arsenal team on form. I would love to see us take them on again with everyone back from injury and playing well. It would be a game of pure football. It could be the most entertaining match in world football.
Eduardo is due to play for his country during the International break which is great as long as he avoids injury or any form of set back. Monday will be a good chance to give Eduardo some more football in an Arsenal shirt, not sure if he will be given 90 minutes, I suppose that depends on how much he gets for Croatia.
I predict that from now until the end of the season should be exciting times for Arsenal fans, I think we will get glimpses of what we should expect in the next month or so. Eduardo and Arshavin added, then the speed and eye for goal of Theo Walcott. Throw in a Cesc Fabregas not far away from a comeback and we are in business. Then to add the cherry on the cake, a rehabilitated Tomas Rosicky and we should hopefully end the season as we will continue next season. I really believe that things will change from now onwards. I almost feel like it could be like the end of the season before we went unbeaten. I am not saying we will do that again of course but I just feel extremely positive about the future, and I mean the short term as well as long term.
Theo Walcott seems to be pretty confident about his return.
“I am nearly there and hopefully I will be back by the end of this month,” he told the club’s official website.
“I am doing a lot of rehab work now with the shoulder, landing on it and also in the gym with a lot of weights to build the muscle strength back. Obviously I do not want to do it again, so I have got to be 100 per cent fit.”
I wonder what sort of stage Theo would be at his development had he not suffered the injury. He had a patch during the early stages of the season where he was flying and looked fantastic, especially in the Blackburn and Bolton matches away from home. Theo will never be the most natural talent you will ever see but when his game comes together and he starts getting consistent then we will see a very dangerous top player. He has a long way to go before he finishes his development so that is a great sign.
Gael Clichy suffered a head injury against Tottenham but luckily looks to have overcome that and should be back in training on Thursday which is good. I feel very sorry for Clichy who appears to have lost a bit of self belief of late and I cannot believe that he is being questioned by a section of Arsenal fans. He is a massive player for us who uses the whole of the left side. I hope he can lift his head and get back to his best soon.
Quick mention about Tony Adams, it is a shame that his time at Portsmouth had to end the way it did, he hasn’t had the best experiences as a manager as yet, he could be well out of his depth or he might have been unlucky, as always the truth tends to be somewhere in the middle. I was a little perplexed when some sites were saying that we should have him back as manager before he got the Portsmouth job. Why? I thought. We hadn’t seen him manage and to me that s quite important, the saying being a great player does not make you a great manager is more than true, it is bloody obvious. Hopefully it is not the end of the road for big Tone, he has the character to come back so lets hope he does well in the future.
Sorry for late post today, back at the usual 1pm post tomorrow.
