Manchester United Thoughts and Predictions

Phyically Manchester United are nothing to fear in midfield. The likes of Carrick, Scholes, Ronaldo etc are pretty lightweight so that shouldn’t be a problem for our side

The moment is almost amongst us, the nerves have already set in hours before kick off, that is usually my indication of how big a game is.

We know that the game will be different to last night’s park the bus performance from Chelsea at Barca. I expect Arsene to stick to his Gunners and play an open game at Old Trafford, something only a classy team would do at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are looking far from unbeatable right now but that does not mean that they cannot beat anybody on their day because they have plenty of goals in them as they showed in the second half against Tottenham.

I expect Arsene to put his faith in Kieran Gibbs at left back so his tussle with Ronaldo will be vital to the end result. Gael Clichy and Ashley Cole before him have usually done a very good job of keeping him quiet in the past. Gibbs is a young converted winger so he will have to be switched on for the whole 90+ minutes. I am sure he will get help from either Song or Denilson should he play. Which brings me on nicely to my next point.

My initial thoughts are that Denilson will sit in with Song and protect our back four but with a lone striker would Wenger opted for the drive and height of Diaby.

Wenger may want to keep it a little tighter at Old Trafford and perhaps play Diaby in the home tie.

Phyically Manchester United are nothing to fear in midfield. The likes of Carrick, Scholes, Ronaldo etc are pretty lightweight so that shouldn’t be a problem for our side. Technically they are all very good and creative so our back four will have to be switched on.

I watched our victory at Old Trafford when we won the league there and it was a fantastic grafting performance. These players will need to pull out the same type of performance if we are to come away with an advantage. I hope from maximum effort from all the players, once we have that then there is no reason why we should fear anything that Manchester United throw at us.

Carlos Vela will be included in the squad after being given the all clear from any deadly viruses that have been circling in his home country.

We haven’t seen anything of Eduardo for a while now and I wonder if he will have a place on the bench tonight. The fact that he hasn’t had any recent football to sharpen him up would indicate that he will not feature, I can only imagine that he has had another set back that is being kept in house.

Emmanuel Adebayor will be key tonight, he was a constant problem to them a few years ago when we won there 1-0 and he scored the winner. Last season he missed a number of good chances and we lost 2-1 so taking whatever chances we get will be very important.

Mean Lean’s Predicted Line Up

Mean Lean’s Match Prediction

Manchester United 1 (Berbatov) Arsenal 1 (Adebayor)

It should be a pretty entertaining midfield game, with both midfield’s tracking back to protect their defenders. Manchester United will drop everyone behind the ball when the lose possession, they will target Gibbs and try and stop Cesc getting in the ball. Hopefully the movement and interchange will solve that problem.

I predict a Manchester United first half opener and Adebayor to grab a second half equaliser.
