Someone should give him a patch of shiny green grass in a frame for him to hang up on his wall to remind him of his decisions. I am not one for laughing at others misfortunes but… hahahahahaha!
Quintuple, super human, British sprit, wonder team of the world were sent crashing back down to earth by a wonderful Barcelona team. Manchester United started the same way they did against us in first leg of the semi final. The front players defending from the top, not giving Barca any space or time to pick passes and it worked a treat. Manchester United should have taken the lead before Barca scored, they were in control but then a driving run and pass from Andreas Iniesta and a poked finish from Samuel Eto’o finished the game.
The game was over after Barcelona scored the first goal because they chucked the shackles to one side and found their passing again. Manchester United’s midfield of Giggs, Carrick and Park were made to look like Sunderland.
They were running around chasing Xavi, Messi and Inesta and could not get near the ball. Has Wayne Rooney ever done so little in a game?
Had we had a strong decisive counter attack and scored at Old Trafford it might have been all different but that is life. Barca got the break and they took over the game.
Last season at Old Trafford where we didn’t take our chances and lost 2-1 we did to United as Barca did last night. Watching Barca last night was frustrating as well as enjoyable because I know that our Arsenal team can reach the quality of their game and as long as we keep our players I believe that we will prove that.
One thing that this Arsenal team can take from Barcelona and Manchester United is showing the hunger to win the ball back when we lose it. Rooney, Messi, Eto’o. Tevez etc are chase like men possessed to close down the opponent on the ball, that is why Manchester United didn’t score. It wasn’t because of Barcelona’s defence being very strong because they are nothing special. Win the ball back early and keep possession and the defence doesn’t get troubled.
In earlier games against the likes of Hull City and Fulham we didn’t put much pressure of the opposition and sometimes I get the impression that we think we can win games without breaking a sweat. Hopefully the effort is put in every game next season.
I loved watching Hleb’s expressions at the end, he didn’t look like a man who had won the champions league and he knows it. Someone should give him a patch of shiny green grass in a frame for him to hang up on his wall to remind him of his decisions. I am not one for laughing at others misfortunes but… hahahahahaha!
Arsenal and done their first bit of business in the transfer market, it is the kind of business that makes the doom and gloomers say “Oh no, not more kids!” like bringing in talented kids is actually going to effect anything that Wenger would do in the first team. But hey, there is no talking to’em.
FC Zürich’s Martin Angha-Lötscher and Cheltenham Town’s versatile starlet Jamie Edge are two under 16 year olds who will come into this fantastic set up that is set up at our club.
I quite like these kids coming in and not hearing about them for a while until one day there is talk of this 18 year old who is making big noises behind the scenes. I suppose with the reserve and youth leagues being on Arsenal TV and a few websites dedicated to these players it wouldn’t happen like that anymore but it is still great to wait until the next Wilshere, Gibbs etc turns up.
Theo Walcott has been included in the England under 21s after all, it will be interesting to see what happens regarding the first team. Team mate Kieran Gibbs has also found his way into the squad after some great displays for Arsenal. Well done the young lad, he really does have a bright future in football.
Robin Van Persie is yet to tie himself down to the club, talks appear to be ongoing.
‘The club and I have not been able to make any headway,’ Van Persie is quoted as saying by De Telegraaf.
‘But maybe I will soon have something new to report. That is all I have to say on this now.’
I don’t think this is about money, from what he has said in the past it could well be about if he feels the team is competitive next season. I could be wrong but that is the impression I get from him. We need to keep players of the quality of Robin. 20 goals and top assists is nothing to be sniffed at. Fingers crossed that it gets sorted out soon. The last thing we need is another Flamini situation on our hands
I am going to be away for the next few days so there will be no blog until the weekend, or perhaps even Monday so have yourselves a good weekend.
