A look to next season

What is imperative next season is a good start and a settled side. In season 2007-2008 we had a great stretch of games without defeat and the team built confidence and momentum

A good afternoon to you all. It is Saturday afternoon and we have a big game on today. Manchester United come to the Emirates to face a team in full flow. Arsenal’s only injury concern is that of Carlos Vela who has done well from the bench this season scoring 5 in his first 15 games. Emmanuel Adebayor who is now back in favour with the Gunners support has roared back with 12 in his first 15 games. Tomas Rosicky will keep his place after his man of the match display, in the 3-1 away win at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, with Andrey Arshavin in red hot form is likely to play behind Adebayor. William Gallas is a likely starter after keeping Drogba in his pocket.

Last seasons champions have had an awful start to the season with Ronaldo and Tevez departing and Vidic out with a knee ligament injury that he suffered at White Hart Lane earlier in the season. Wayne Rooney who as scored 2 goals from 12 games is a doubt with another thigh strain. While Manchester United’s expensive duo who have found Premier League life difficult are likely to fit on the bench. Owen Hargreaves who was penciled in for the start of the season has broken down again and will be out for a further 3 weeks

ok, you got me guv, I made it up. I am used to writing a thoughts and predictions on the weekend and it isn’t right if I do not do it so I thought I’d sample one that I hope to write next season. You just know that if Manchester United suffered what we have been going through then the media would be writing about it on a daily basis. I always end up down this road, I will put a halt to it before I am accused of being a red and white parrot.

What is imperative next season is a good start and a settled side. In season 2007-2008 we had a great stretch of games without defeat and the team built confidence and momentum. We went on to be the best team for 70% of the season until we fell apart. The next season our fixture start was arguably easier but we fell at places we shouldn’t have fell. The attitude wasn’t always correct for me but it was also a case of chopping and changing our team which didn’t help. Rebuilding a midfield + injuries + attitude not right would always cause some problems but I guess we were hoping that it wouldn’t be as bad as it was.

Even though we had the likes of Cesc, Walcott, Adebayor etc injured for long periods we began to get a settled side and that is so important. It is funny how Liverpool all of a sudden make an impact in the league when Rafa decides not to rotate his players every game.

Arsene Wenger also agrees that a good start is vital to make a challenge for next season.

Wenger said:

“The league title is a marathon, in which we had a bad start, and when you are running against people who are quick, it is difficult to catch them up.

“That is what we want to change next season – we want to start strongly, it is very important.”

Speaking of next season, we can all say goodbye to Emmanuel Eboue, because according to the tabloids he is off.

Oh what? Was you waiting for quotes or what source this came from? Sorry, they didn’t mention that part. A player who has improved, great in the dressing room and can play a number of positions isn’t worth keeping so he can go on a free. No worries. Good work The Mirror. *sigh*

Nicklas Bendtner is in talks with the club and hopefully should follow Theo Walcott’s lead and should sign an extension. Hopefully the club can sort out the likes of Van Persie and Bendtner’s contracts as soon as possible because the longer it drags on the longer it usually takes for Arsene and the club to concentrate on bringing targets into the club.

Gotta go now, but a massive good luck to Everton today and stop that little wretch from picking up any personal records.
