If Wenger isn’t given the money that he needs to improve the squad as much as he would like then I would be very surprised that he would have someone on the board against him or his ideas. From all the DATA and STATS that I have gathered from interviews
Good afternoon to you all,
I have come back with a nice sun tan.. oh! Never mind, I brought back loads of Ice creams for all the readers but I was hijacked by some dude in a mask who seemed to have padding around his arse, as if he had been sitting down for too long or something. God only knows who it was. It was my first time to Southend and I was expecting a shit hole as it has been portrayed as a little chavy but it was lovely. The wonderful sunshine helped.
I did try and read some of the comments on my mobile but trying to multitask was proving difficult. With my son trying to run into the sea and my daughter crying and looking at the fantastic view it was all becoming a little much. Having read through them now it looks like the mass debating got a little steamy.
It was what I want the site to be about. I don’t really care about hits because they have always been fairly high and increasing as the months go on but I feel that the comments are a little separate at times instead of a group discussion so that was pleasing.
For the record, I used those stats for Denilson to indicate that he is more of a defensive midfielder than Alonso is. Statistics cannot tell you everything about a player and you cannot judge how good someone is purely on figures but you can get a good idea of someone if they win the ball back more than another player who plays for a similar level team.
Ok, lets pour that debate down the sink and crack open some new conversation. Tony Adams has been talking about our club and has had some controversial things to say.
Big Tone said:
“I don’t know who it is, but I think there’s someone on the board who’s not pro-Arsene. I don’t know who it is, but that’s what I’ve heard. A lot of shares are outside of the club, but I still think the club is quite stable.
“The fans have got very high standards now. I remember when I first broke into the team, losing 4-0 at Maine Road and the fans were doing the conga. They didn’t expect much. The fans want more now – but they’re not financing him. But I don’t think Arsenal have got any finance. They’re crying out for experience and the fans are not silly, they know the team needs experience at the back and in central midfield.
If Wenger isn’t given the money that he needs to improve the squad as much as he would like then I would be very surprised that he would have someone on the board against him or his ideas. From all the DATA and STATS that I have gathered from interviews and press conferences about Wenger only being able to spend the clubs own resources and the fact that he has balanced the books every season since the Emirates then I think the evidence is there.
The way Wenger conducts himself in regards to his players in public would quite easily be transferred to his employers. There has been mixed messages from board and manager about funds available and I find that many people choose what they want to hear. I have read plenty about Wenger being tight and stubborn so he does not want to add quality to his squad. That to me is nonsense, but that is my opinion.
The club do not want to come across as being poor, no business wants that. It does not do the clubs interests any positivity apart from in the transfer market.
We have been known as a conservative spending club way before Arsene Wenger showed up on our doorsteps. I only go as far as the George Graham days but we always had a rigid wage structure that prevented Graham from signing certain players. There were many seasons when Graham didn’t add players in the summer months, which saw me kick and scream as the youths of today do when Wenger does not buy what they think will help the squad.
Not that I do not think we could do with additions, you understand.
I do not think that the Arshavin money just came out from someone’s back pocket when Arsene asked for it. He tried to use that cash to buy Alonso, Inler etc but that didn’t work and he banked the cash. Had we bought Alonso for the £13 or so million then it would have been interesting to see if we would have paid the amount we did for Andrey if the Spanish maestro found his way in at Arsenal.
Going back to the defensive midfielder position a second, I have just read the summary of the Nasri interview on Arsenal TV, I shall watch it after I put this up but he is talking about his future role as a defensive midfielder and that is something that I just cannot see at this moment in time. Arsene obviously knows more about his players than I do but watching Nasri allow Anelka to run past him without an attempt to win it back frightens me a little. I would much rather a natural, who first and foremost thinks about filling in gaps, or intercepting the ball instead of getting on the ball and dictating.
It would however allow for more goal scoring and creative options.
At least we shall be not hearing anymore of the Gareth Barry stories. He has moved on to Manchester City to play in the Champions League.. oh. Money appears to have a massive mouth. With all these billionaire owners joining football clubs, I wonder where our sport will be in 10 years from now.
I was going to talk about the latest transfer rumours but I cannot be arsed. Sorry. I am not sure if I’ll be able to take that attitude all through the summer because it will be the only thing to talk about at times but unless it is more concrete now then I cannot be arsed to speak about what some so called writer made up at his desk (probably, perhaps, but maybe not.)
On that note, I shall do the off but I will almost definitely maybe perhaps even be back tomorrow.
