Physically very impressive indeed. Technically it is difficult to work out how good he is or what his movement is like, passing, link up play, attitude off the ball etc
Afternoony Gooners,
Not much in the way of news doing the rounds today, I say news as in something concrete, something official. Fact. So I will have to take a walk over to the other side and go down the whole speculation route.
I could talk about what I had for breakfast, or what my plans are this evening but I have a hunch that you are not really here to read stuff like that.
Ok, first on the list is Dutch young striker Luc Castaignos. His agent Arie Treffers has let the cat out of the bag by accident of course by stating that his client will have to stay at his current club on loan if the deal is to go through.
Franny Treffers said:
Luc needs to develop at his own pace, for this reason he will be best served by remaining here. He realises that this move will be good for his career, but he will only sign for Arsenal if the club is prepared to let him stay on loan
To be honest telling Arsene Wenger that a player needs to develop at his own pace is a bit of an insult. It is a little silly isn’t it? Almost like a blogger thinking that they have more knowledge on football than our manager… oh!
Wenger was hardly going to throw the 16 year old into the first team in the Champions League qualifiers was he? But hey! If this is true which I suppose would have a strong possibility of being so, Wenger would rather he had the player at his training ground learning and developing in his own way but if the player is good enough then he will probably have to make that sacrifice.
The reported fee is around £4 million quid which is a lot of money for a kid of 16. If that amount was to exchange hands then we know that our scouts and manager think very highly of him. When I read that figure I wanted to put him to the ultimate test. The method that every manager and scout should go by. Why invest millions into a worldwide network when you have You Tube! We could have saved all that money and just paid Flamini the billions that he wanted per week. That of course my friends was a joke. I feel that I need to add that these days before I get castigated by people who cannot see through my lowest form of wit.
Well from that clip he looks like a beast for 16 years old. Physically very impressive indeed. Technically it is difficult to work out how good he is or what his movement is like, passing, link up play, attitude off the ball etc.
Rumours were that Liverpool were interested in the player but his agent had confirmed that Arsenal were the only side talking to Feyenoord .
Middle man in the box said:
“I heard about the talk of Liverpool being interested, but Liverpool have never given any signal to Feyenoord or me that they are interested.
“It is not difficult for Liverpool to find my number. There are six or seven clubs interested, but Liverpool is not one of them.”
Sounds to me like Mr Agent man is doing his best to attract more interest from other clubs as you would expect, although Liverpool do not seem to be one of those clubs, and anyway, why would he want to go to a club that is about to be wiped out from the face of the earth! mwahahahaha. That was supposed to be an evil laugh that doesn’t really come across in words but I am sure you know which kind of laugh I mean.
That brings me onto another topic. Liverpool >> Stupid spending >> Manchester United >> Ronaldo!
£80 million!! What on earth is going on? How on earth is that kind of money sustainable? Almost £60 million on Kaka then another £80 million that is just insane. Even with all these superstars that they are bringing in I still do not think they will reach the same level as Barcelona. You cannot buy continuity and understanding. There is no doubt that they are likely to have a very talented team next season but they could also not gel and flop dramatically.
Back to the Arsenal again. Without reading any of the other blogs and comments (as yet) I can imagine many comments such as Typical that Wenger is trying to buy another youngster, I am fed up of all these kids coming in, we have enough
I get slightly confused when I read that type of comment as if we can only buy for either the future of for the here and now.
The way I look at it and I am sure Wenger looks at it is that we can buy a £20 million 26 year old every season or we buy a 16 year old every season for thousands or a few million so when they reach their twenties we already have a quality player who could become world class after a season of playing first team football.
Put it this way, at the rate of development, how much would a 26 year old Jack Wilshere cost to buy? what about Kieran Gibbs at 27? You are talking massive amounts of money. Unfortunately the inpatient fan refuses to take this into consideration. It is not as if we do not buy established players at the same time. I.e. Gallas, Rosicky, Arshavin, Silvestre, Eduardo, Sagna, Hleb etc etc.
So don’t sigh when another kid is signed, it just means that we could well have another future talent, if not then we will probably sell him for more than we bought him for which obviously means profit for the club. Can you explain why that is a negative thing?
Anyway, I am not trying to make those who don’t see my point, agree with me, I am just excited about the future of the club. Watching these 17-19 year olds coming through in the next few years and watching our conveyor belt of talent coming through at my club. If I was a supporter for only the next few years then yeah, things could (not that I believe it) be a little more bleak but I am a Gooner for the rest of my life so as much as I want to win everything now I am patient enough to see the squad reach its peak and the squad after that etc until I breathe my last breath.
Before I go I would like to congratulate Theo Walcott on his assist last night for England. I started watching the game but lost interest and saw glimpses of the second half.
ok, time to go. Have a good’un. Transfers are around the corner guys & gyals.
Back tomorrow.
