Cesc, back on the brain, Cross Theo & Gleeful Gibbs

It was Barcelona have Pep Guardiola last week which caused a mass debate around the blogs this week Fabregas has been fired some more bursting loaded questions

They say that the average hack thinks of Cesc every 7 seconds or so, at first I didn’t believe it could be possible, surely this was an exaggeration. But as the years have gone on and my knowledge of Cesc has increased my eyes have been opened by the sheer volume of new stories about Cesc.

I know that Cesc sells, of course it does but how much can you talk about Cesc? Doesn’t it get boring after a while. Especially when it is only with two clubs. Surely they can be original and spread Cesc around Europe. doesn’t José Mourinho fancy some Cesc? or how about Bayern Munich in Germany?

It was Barcelona have Pep Guardiola last week which caused a mass debate around the blogs this week Fabregas has been fired some more bursting loaded questions.

Fabregas said:

“The absence of titles at Arsenal is what angers me the most. Cristiano said he’s leaving Manchester United because he had nothing else to win. For me right now it is the exact opposite, seeing the impotence.

You can see the problem can’t you. Cesc and impotence never goes hand in hand (although a hand could well help)

Fabgregas continued:

“This year we wanted it, we were giving everything – but we couldn’t reach the level that everyone expected of Arsenal. When you win, you’re well. But when you don’t, everyone is in a bad mood. For four years now, we’ve needed a title to regain our belief in ourselves.”

“My seventh season is about to start. It’s a lot when you’re just 22. When you stop to think, you see that time flies. In football, you have to learn fast and take the best decisions for yourself and try to be happy.”

“Of course my family would understand if I signed for Real Madrid because they love me, they want me to be happy and what is best for me. They’d support me – whichever club I joined. My family will always be there for me – whatever decision I make. “They’re the ones who are always by my side.”

It was only last week when Fabregas told the British press that you have to be careful not to fall into the Cesc trap, and only a week later a moment of weakness came over him and out came more Cesc stories. He should be old enough and wise enough to avoid these situations. Extraverts like to talk Cesc in public but as Arsenal captain he should know what the agenda of the person holding the microphone in his face is.

To make matters even worse it appears that Cesc isn’t shared around the Arsenal dressing room as it is with his national team.

Fabregas explained:

“It’s difficult to explain how good the camaraderie is in the Spain team. I am now at Arsenal, where there isn’t this social group which is so human, so friendly, a group of normal people like my friends and we don’t talk about things too much.”

Didn’t David Bentley say something similar about behind the scenes at Arsenal? But hey, at least he won’t be doing an Anelka and forcing his way out.

“I will never do that. It’s not the way I am. If I have to say I want to leave I will do it face to face. If one day I’m not happy, I am the first who will tell the manager. I admire Arsene Wenger but each of us has his own life and looks after his own interests.”

Well that is nice to know isn’t it? I haven’t seen the full interview which would be interesting after reading those comments but we must understand that much of it would have been twisted and turned to bring the subject back to seedy Cesc. Even so some of it doesn’t sound that great does it?

We all know that he will up sticks and go back to Spain one day and that is fair enough but right now it does not matter because Cesc Fabregas will be at Arsenal next season so that is the end of the story as far as I am concerned.

Anyway, all this talk of Cesc is making me feel a little dirty.

Kieron Gibbs is reportedly set to be offered a new long term contract which will earn him £1 million a year, not quite sure how they found out that information but hey it is nothing less than the kid deserves. Talk of him going on loan seems a little silly to me. Gibbs is a perfect replacement for Clichy when the Frenchman needs resting or rotating.

He will get plenty of FA Cup and Carling Cup games to get his teeth into. I hope Clichy can find his 2007/2008 form next season because when he is on form then he is the best in Europe.

Theo Walcott is a man not to be messed with at the moment, he is a little miffed that he has been left out of the kiddies squad.

“I’m disappointed not starting games. If you are not disappointed there is something wrong, it means you’re just here for the socialising. You’ve got to be angry coming on the pitch as a substitute.

“Even my parents booed me off at halftime against Finland! It just didn’t go for me. It was one of those games.

I think Wenger may have been correct after all. He should not be playing for the under 21s if he is supposed to be in the first team squad.

I suppose if he is to play then some outstanding displays could do him some good before the start of next season.

Not much else going on apart from the Spanish getting a shock beating by USA, strange stuff. So back tomorrow.
