Capello, Arshavin rubbish and Melo

The Melo story continues with sporting director Pantaleo Corvino saying that Arsene Wenger would like to speak to him regarding the Emmanuel Eboue exchange for the Brazilian midfielder

I will start with a man who seems to know what he is talking about. Fabio Capello has been taking a sneaky peak at the Arsenal academy and has been very impressed with what he has seen.

Speaking to FIFA.com Capello said:

“I’m very lucky, because I’ve had the opportunity to look at Arsenal’s academy where the England team train and their work is incredibly good.

“It’s a very important example for the other English academies. I’m very interested in the academies of the clubs in England, but they all seem to be working very well. I’m very, very happy about the future of England and I think it will be better.”

I do not expect this to be shouted out very loudly by those who like to see our club as anti English or a club that is on the brink of collapse.

I know a certain Arsenal (sort of anyway) website who loves Fabio Capello and cannot stand Arsenal’s youth policy, he must be in a right pickle today trying to work out where his loyalties lie

I love the idea of the youth policy, Arsenal will certainly be the template for many clubs in the future you can bet on that, especially when more and more clubs attempt to make their clubs self sustaining and not rely on bank loans.

The Daily Mail have been talking about Arshavin and Barcelona, something about Dennis Lachter and…. sorry, I shall just move on.

The Melo story continues with sporting director Pantaleo Corvino saying that Arsene Wenger would like to speak to him regarding the Emmanuel Eboue exchange for the Brazilian midfielder.

Corvino said:

“Wenger wants to talk to me, I have no objection also because Eboue seems a valid swap. In order for that (Melo to go to Juve) to happen, there needs to be a payment of €25million as stipulated in his release clause. No club has made such an offer and there are no meetings arranged in the near future.”

Pardon me for the skeptic but this sounds like we are being used as bait to lure Juventus from out of the rocks. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Melo playing in midfield for Juventus next season.

One thing is certain, we would not value Melo at £20 million or whatever crazy amount they have slapped on his forehead. Does Eboue want to go to Fiorentina? etc etc

I will not hold my breath but if something does happen then you can be sure that our scouts would have been watching him for some time.

Right that’s the end of more nothing, hopefully some, something tomorrow.
