I could have sworn that Wenger said that both Rosicky and Clichy will play on the weekend, unless something has changed then I assume that this is the truth
Why am I late today?
Stop asking so many damn questions, it’s none of your business. ok?!
The tide is coming, hold onto your hats guys and girls. A new wave of transfer rumours is about to splash us in the face with some fresh fish mixed in with the usual suspects. I have my fishing gear on, even the hat that I doubt very much that I’ll be eating.
First up is Daniele De Rossi of Roma, he is a highly rated central midfielder who has bite and good passing ability. De Rossi has grown up a Roma player and alongside Totti is their star player. So why would they sell? I hear you asking, well apparently they only have a few more pennies left in their piggy bank and would love some of Arsenal’s crisp £50 notes to fill it up. The trouble is his valuation of around £30 million will be slightly too many notes for Arsenal to make a bid.
Rossi should be the type of player that Wenger would be looking at to improve the squad. International quality, Champions League experience, old enough to have top level games under his belt, young enough for us to still witness his best football. The only problem is that he is too well known, which usually goes hand in hand with a stupid Manchester City, Real Madrid type price tag.
This could of course, and probably is just the typical media speculation that we have thrown at us everyday. I say speculation, but what I truly mean is media made up shite.
Just to clarify my point about Vieira yesterday, I of course love Patrick Vieira. One of my all time greats, a monster of a player. Who cannot love his chest control and flick over an opposition head and stride off into the distance *wave of goose bumps rise around me* but Wenger is usually not one to bring a player back to the club, if he was to do that it would surely be for a player who has plenty left in the tank, a player who physically could cope with the demands of Premier League and Champions League football.
At 33 and damaged knees, Patrick Vieira would not do himself any justice back at Arsenal unless it was purely for a coaching role where he could keep Song and Denilson behind to teach them the art of flicking balls over players heads. Ok, jokes aside, it would be great for his experience and leadership skills to be used on a daily basis on the training ground but in the Premier League? Nah, not for me.
The Evening Standard have thrown a fish that looks remarkably like Blaise Matuidi back into the ring by speculating that Wenger would rather have the 22 year old ahead of Vieira who is 11 years his senior. Nothing new though, just more guess work from a Mr James Olley.
Continuing on with the old rumours Chamakh is still in Wenger’s eyesight, well on his list at least. According to the Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud, Wenger has spoken to him about possibly bringing the striker to North London.
Triaud said:
“Wenger actually phoned me. He said to me that he had a list of strikers and that Marouane was on it.”
I wonder what other names are on that list of goodness. A David Villa perhaps? Perhaps not. The underground of the blog world have let slip of Wenger’s secret plan to bring in Rossi and Villa. Sounds great doesn’t it? Of course it does, but it also sounds like I have more chance of making my Arsenal debut next season rather than Arsenal being able and willing to pay the required funds to sign those two players.
ok, rumours over with for now. Only for now mind you, we cannot go more than 24 hours without any good old fashioned transfer bullshit speculation.
I hear that Gael Clichy is injured and out for the start of the season. Well, that is news to me. It appears to have started from Darren Lewis and John Cross from the Mirror.
The Mirror said:
Clichy, 25, has not been risked in any of the Gunners’ pre-season matches so far and it is unclear whether he will feature in the Emirates Cup
I could have sworn that Wenger said that both Rosicky and Clichy will play on the weekend, unless something has changed then I assume that this is the truth. If they have done their own detective work and suddenly realised that Clichy hasn’t played any games so far then shame on them, a little more work like checking the official site can go along way.
God, the media are a disgrace. Is there anywhere that I can find some decent journalism?
Okie dokie last thing before I head off into the wilderness. Young Aaron Ramsey is ready for a push into the first team after an impressive pre season.
Rambo said:
“I definitely feel ready to push for the first team, Obviously the first year, especially the first few months, were quite surreal. It took me a bit of time to get used to things. But now I know what to expect and I’m ready to go. I don’t think I’ve changed too much as a person but obviously I have learned a lot, football-wise, from my first year, and mentally as well from living on my own.
“I’ve been doing a few things with my Dad and my brother over the summer so physically I am a lot stronger than I was as well. Arsenal have proven that they bring in loads of youngsters and give them opportunities. And when they are ready, the boss puts them in the team. That’s what I’ve got to prove – that I’m ready.
“I’d like to play in every game but I will try my hardest to get into the starting XI and put pressure on the manager to pick me. That’s my target for the new season.”
It is a big task for the kid but that’s just it, he is still a kid. One with plenty of potential of course but at only 18 years old you would expect him to be kept in reserve for a little while longer. The good news for him is that with the new system it gives central midfield players more chances to play first team football.
I am sure that the finished article will be very impressive indeed but honestly I would rather Abou Diaby playing ahead of him for the time being.
I wish to pay my respects to Sir Bobby Robson. Without knowing him you can just tell that he was a genuine, honest and likeable gentleman. RIP.
Back tomorrow.
