This is as close as it gets before the actual season takes off. A chance for the fans to take a look at the squad, a chance for everyone to witness what Wenger has been tinkering and experimenting with at the training ground. The last chance to sharpen up before we set off to Goodison park to play against the physical Everton.

We are almost certain to witness two completely different teams against Atletico Madrid today and then Glasgow Rangers tomorrow.

Last year the younger and weaker side played first against Juventus and the older, more senior stars featured against Real Madrid on the Sunday. This time round our strongest opposition turn out the day before but Wenger will be thinking of a team closer in style to Everton and also that playing on Sunday gives his side an extra day preparation and rest from the 1-0 victory in Germany.

As usual I have questions that I look forward to getting answers from. Many Gooners will be wondering what Wenger will do during the two days.

Firstly, I expect the side today to look something like the following.

I suppose the main question is will Wenger play 4-3-3 over both games. He has played that way so far during the pre season and it has worked well, especially the first half against Hannover 96. The movement between the front three and Cesc worked a treat and he will want both teams to repeat that quality.

It is a shame that Abou Diaby is not available for the two days, I wanted to see if the physical work done over the summer would have made any difference to his physical stature on the pitch. I wanted to see how he could start the season with a full pre season behind him but once again it looks as if he has problems before the season starts and we know how important pre season is to a footballer.

Jack Wilshere will be used to playing in a 4-3-3 if we do play that system as he is key to that system in the reserves albeit a slightly different version of 4-3-3. Ramsey should have a box to box role in the center of the park as Cesc did in the game last week.

I have gone for Frimpong alongside Coquelin but the likelihood is that if Arsene was to play his young defensive players then Randall would be further up the pecking order due to experience and age.

We will be facing a very good team today so do not expect an Arsenal cricket score, Madrid have some very talented attacking players who know each others game very well and will not be afraid to attack the Arsenal back four who will probably be quite attack minded, given the personnel and system.

The team tomorrow will provide the most interest. Working out what team will take to the field is very difficult, only Wenger knows what his strongest available side will be, but I expect to see something like the following,

Does Wenger continue with his two minders alongside Cesc to allow him that freedom? or with a host of creative, attack minded midfielders does he play only one of Denilson and Song and bring in someone else?

Is Eduardo Da Silva trusted into his strongest side at this stage, will Bendtner start the season interchanging with Van Persie or will the role go to Tomas Rosicky?

We already know what the back four will look like, Cesc, Arshavin, Van Persie and Denilson will start, it is just a question of who plays around them.

I am interested to know how the team will defend, although they are likely to be tested much more on the Saturday. The players will need to get back to working from the front, closing down in packs and protecting the back four. If the team do not do this from the start of the season then I fear that they never will and that is needed to win trophies.

I seriously doubt that Wenger will start the season with Eduardo as his first choice, mainly due to the lack of games he has had in the last season and a half but like I have said in the My Vision section, the idea of Eduardo latching onto chances from Cesc, Arshavin, Van Persie and possibly Rosicky is mouthwatering.

Not only do we have to improve defensively but we also need to be ruthless with our chances. Eduardo is not only ruthless, he is cold, calm and collected. Finishing is like brushing his teeth in the mornings. It is a routine procedure. Having Eduardo fit around the likes of Walcott and Bendtner can only do them good.

Hopefully the younger group can do themselves proud, a great way to be noticed and try and force themselves into Wenger’s starting eleven and hopefully the Sunday boys can show that they are ready to challenge for this Premier League trophy again.

Good luck you Gunners!
