The fee that is being banded about is in the region of £6-8 million which would be pretty decent value for an International who has spent the last few years at Chelsea
Afternoon Goons and Goonets,
Another day of transfer speculation to look forward to, I say look forward to but don’t really mean it, not unless something concrete comes of it of course. It does look as if big Phil Senderos is on his way out of the club, Arseblog mentioned it a few days ago, now eventually it has filtered through to the mainstream media.
Everton look like his most likely destination which should suit him and them for that matter down to the ground. I have always maintained that Senderos would suit a well organised and well drilled defensive side. Senderos will no longer be isolated in one on ones, he will have a shield ahead of him and that will allow him to do what he does best. Make blocks, win headers, organise his back four. I think we will start to see the best of the young man.
Stick him in a side who push forward with attacking fullbacks, with Senderos having to push high up the pitch and he will get murdered, just as John Terry was when Phil Scolari first took over.
Anyway, I would like to wish him the best of luck in the future apart from the games against us, where I want him to have an absolute nightmare and fall over as much as humanly possible.
It could be one out and one in with Arsene Wenger reportedly interested in Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou. Scolari let slip that Wenger was sniffing around in the summer months and Kalou was quite clearly interested in the switch, now that Adebayor has left it wouldn’t be impossible that Wenger would show more apparent interest in the versatile forward.
In February, Kalou spoke very highly of our manager.
“He is a very great coach and I know that every single player in the world dreams of playing for him. I have a lot of respect for him, he is one of the best coaches in the world.
“Arsenal are achieving huge things and watching them play is beautiful.”
How could Wenger refuse a player after such lovely words, In all truth I do not know very much about him, having only watched him on a few occasions against us mainly which meant I would have been too nervous to analyse any opposition players.
The fee that is being banded about is in the region of £6-8 million which would be pretty decent value for an International who has spent the last few years at Chelsea.
Not that it means diddly squat right now but hey I am the messenger so don’t shoot and all that. Another forward that seems to have moved into and settled into the Arsenal newsnow section is that of Bordeaux striker Maurone Chamakh
So what chapter are we up to now?
French journo said that he was on his way
Wenger hinted at interest
No move from Arsenal
Chamakh claiming that Arsenal are no longer loving him so Sunderland is the best place in the world
Arsenal are interested now so its time to stop talking before I mess up my life,
Chamakh wants a street fight with Bordeaux chief for not letting him go for £2.66 and a packet of half eaten cheese & onion crisps
Arsene likely to finish off their crisps and offer £3.20 but Bordeaux want £10 million (slight difference in price)
Did I miss anything? I may have been watching big brother on that day. I think its looking likely that we could well bring in another forward and midfielder possibly if the price is right so watch this space. Chammy is now pushing for an Arsenal move.
“I am angry. I am even disgusted. I don’t understand why people are doing this. Ever since I’ve played football, I’ve given my all for this club and for the fans. I believe I deserve more consideration,” Chamakh said.
Well it looks like our bid is a take it or leave it offer.
Wenger said:
“In five months, if he doesn’t prolong his contract, Chamakh will be free to talk to any club and Bordeaux won’t get anything, In the current context, to me, it is over. Let’s say that at the moment it is terminated.
“I like Chamakh, he is a forward that attracts me, but I already have [Theo] Walcott, [Nicklas] Bendtner , [Robin] van Persie, [Andrei] Arshavin and Eduardo. I am in no rush.
“My offer seems fair to me, taking the market into account. Chamakh would be good, but there are other options should we wish to pursue them.”
With so many forwards at the club it is difficult to see where another player would fit in, especially if he is not the finished article. Well, Wenger has obviously seen him more than I have which is zero, so I would be concerned if I watched him more.
He certainly is playing a game with Bordeaux, especially if no other big clubs come in for him. Perhaps we will lodge one more bid that will seal the deal. We shall see.
With all the negativity surrounding the team as always from the media and the section of fans who wanted Adebayor out and thought Toure was passed it are claiming that we are not good enough or have enough experience. We needed a knight in shining armour to come and save the day, to deflect the bad vibes from the squad so in rides Tomas Rosicky on his white horse and cowboy hat.
“I don’t think the best players have left. We have still got Andrey Arshavin, Cesc Fabregas and they are still great players. I don’t see why we should be afraid of anyone. I see the potential and think we need to focus on what we have got.”
“We have got plenty of options and that is why I feel we will be stronger than last season – because the boss will have more options, We know what we have to do better and we are not blind. I can see the positives. I hope we can achieve something together and we will fight for trophies this year.
“If the boss decides to buy someone, that is always good and will give us another option – but I think even if he doesn’t, we have plenty of options. It is a great feeling to be back and playing again at this stadium because it has been too long for me.
Here, here bloody here Rossa, I happen to be thinking along the lines of you ol chap. Now go and trot off on your horse and don’t ride too fast, the last bloody thing we need is you falling off.
On a serious note, didn’t the lad look classy in the Emirates Cup? I was desperate to see him with the ‘strongest’ side but we never got that chance, The boss is quite understandably being cautious with him at this stage. Another serious setback could well see the end of Rosicky as an Arsenal player and by gee I don’t want that.
Everything he does on the pitch is just classy, *contemplates buying the new blue shirt with 7 Rosicky on the back* that offside finish on the Saturday was just wonderful. I can just see his late runs into the box followed by a low drill into the bottom corner to put the icing on the cake in a few games this coming season.
Rosicky — Cesc — Arshavin — Nasri — Van Persie — Walcott — Wilshere — Eduardo! Ooh my head hurts. A good hurt though.
Our next game is a friendly away to Valencia, so that might be an opportunity to see Wenger’s strongest team before we play against Everton. Walcott, Gibbs, Vela and Diaby are yet to play any minutes during this pre season so I expect them to be given a decent amount of time on the pitch to build up some fitness before the season starts.
Right, must dash, Have a great day.
