If we continue with that shape and way of playing, then you can be sure that we will see the Cesc of 2007/08. Goals, assists and man of the match displays
I was going to say good afternoon, but I am not totally sure if I can actually say that at this stage. Rumours of Tomas Rosicky being injured again leaves me feeling somewhat uncomfortable to be honest. The news has been slowly spreading around like a virus, contracted on talksport and now filtering through to the blog world.
I blame myself. well not really but I said the other day that one more serious injury could spell the end of his Arsenal career. I will give myself a bly as the apparent injury is supposedly for 5 weeks or so but the problem is that the supposed injury is his hamstring where all his problems started in the first place.
I pray that this is another Eduardo pre season made up injury situation.
On brighter but not very surprising news chairman Peter Hill-Woody-wood-wood has denied that our captain is about to upsticks for Milan or anywhere else for that matter.
He said:
“There is absolutely no chance of us selling Cesc and all this talk is just fabrication.
“This sort of thing crops up from time to time and it is something we are perfectly used to. Cesc is happy at Arsenal, as far as I am aware.”
Yep, pretty much what I thought. If Cesc was going to leave this season then he would have left already and wouldn’t have come out 7,439 times on Arsenal.com stating that he is not leaving the club.
Most of you who are reading this would understand and know this already so I apologise for wasting your time but the few that thought the Cesc – Milan story was a goer then go and sit on the naughty step until I tell you to come off.
Cesc of this pre season looks very good to me, very sharp, quick in his mind and full of creative passing. I liked the shape of our midfield against Hanover 96 with Denilson and Song sitting ahead of our defence allowing Cesc to make runs into the box and play further forward without being stuck behind one striker.
If we continue with that shape and way of playing, then you can be sure that we will see the Cesc of 2007/08. Goals, assists and man of the match displays.
Nothing new on the Chamakh (how do you pronounce his name?) deal as yet, but I fully expect it to happen. I think one more bid from us will force Mr Triaud to accept defeat and cut his losses. Still no idea how he is supposed to fit in unless he develops in the first few months into a goalscoring super hero. The last out of the blue goalscoring super hero that springs to mind was a young right footed, left winger who replaced the experienced goal scorer Davor Suker. Does anyone remember that ridiculous goal he scored against Sunderland (I think) certainly one that sticks in the memory.
Jack Wilshere has been overlooked by Stuart Pearce for the under 21 squad which is understandable given his tender age but surprising considering his immense talent. If I was Stuart Pearce and I watched the Emirates cup then I would have liked to have called him up to take part in training and see how good he is first hand but I am not Pearce (not sure if that is good or bad) and I do not make those decisions.
It is only a matter of time before he is a full England international and one of the first names of Wenger’s team sheet. Probably not too short a time but a matter of time none the less.
Two more days until we face Valencia in our last pre season game, which I admit I am most excited about. Wenger’s final rehearsal before the big one at Goodison.
Till tomorrow.
