Did Arsenal win 6-1? MOTD must have missed it / Cesc / Vermaelen

A name that has been plucked out of the hat is that of Rafael Van der Vaart. The Real Madrid midfielder could see himself pushed out of the club due to thousands of world class players coming into the club

Don’t you just love a good Arsenal victory? Two days later, on a Monday morning I still feel as high as a kite, a natural Arsenal high of course. Did you realise that the result was only down to Lescott being unsettled? Any team could have gone to Goodison and won 6-1 infact anyone else would have scored twice as much.

Match of the day and Arsenal News Review perfect examples.

Can you imagine Manchester United hardly getting a mention on MOTD had they beat Everton 6-1 on the opening day? How about Liverpool? It is just insane.

We cannot think about the past too much as we have a massive game tomorrow which could go along way in deciding our Champions League fate for the coming season. A defeat followed by a defensive Celtic could really cause problems for us so we have to be careful.

Personally I think that the Everton victory has given us all the preparation that we need to get something out of the game at Parkhead. If you asked me which ground would have been more difficult to get a victory from then I would have said Goodison park, that is not to say that it will not be a difficult game because it is unlikely that we will find the net anywhere as close to how we found it at Everton.

Not much going on today as the players have been focusing on the job in hand, so what usually happens when nothing is going on? Yup, you’ve guessed it, transfer rumours.

A name that has been plucked out of the hat is that of Rafael Van der Vaart. The Real Madrid midfielder could see himself pushed out of the club due to thousands of world class players coming into the club, perhaps I slight exaggeration but you catch my drift. He is of course a very good little player who we could probably pick up for a decent price but when you look around the Arsenal squad you would be forgiven in thinking ‘sorry chap, no more room at the in for your type!’

Barcelona have ruled out a swoop for Cesc Fabregas for now, so that is nice of them.

Guardiola said:

“Cesc will not come. He is an important player for Arsenal and they have already sold Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor.

“I believe it will not be possible this season. He is a very interesting footballer, but now he will play another year in England.”

Oh so thats nice, another year is it? How long is his contract again? I have a feeling it is slightly longer than a year.

Thomas Vermaelen has looked very impressive so far in his short time at the club, he has been talking about the Everton game and the upcoming clash with Celtic.

The Verminator said:

“Of course the Everton result is good for our spirit but already we are looking towards Tuesday, We can be happy with this but now we have to be focused on qualifying for the Champions League. It is not going to be easy.

“Celtic are a good team and we will have to be on top of our game to beat them. I joined Arsenal to play in the Champions League, it is important for every player and club to be there.

“I don’t know too much about Celtic but they have some good, physical players up front and I think it could be a similar match to Everton.

“I think it will be similar to Goodison Park, with a fanatical crowd and we will have to play the same as we did against Everton. We will have to be physical again and also play our own game.”

Since he has joined the club, he has said the right things, looked the part in pre season and kicked off his competitive Arsenal career in style. I am looking forward to watching how the Gallas Vermaelen partnership develops over the coming weeks.

Right, must dash, Celtic preview tomorrow.
