Eduardo banned, transfer window closure makes us stronger & our midfield three

Does anyone think we will ever see a midfield trio of Cesc, Nasri and Rosicky in a home game against a negative outfit? Oh that would be tasty but I am not sure if we ever will see that from the start

So there we have it, Eduardo has had a two game slapped on his forehead with Arsenal’s evidence thrown across the room into the empty bin sat in the corner of UEFA’s head office. I wouldn’t be surprised he there were no finger prints on the documents as it would contradicted everything the powers that be stand for.

The good news is that our group (on paper) should be decent enough for us to progress even without the finishing power of the Croazilian.

So I guess the question is, why didn’t they wait until we had a big game with one of their favourites before inventing new reasons to ban Arsenal players.

I don’t suppose we will hear from them at the moment because they are all busy looking at the Ashley Young dive(S) in the Villa European defeat. Oh wait… I think they may just have missed that one. Massive surprised that.

Has anyone actually explained why you can get booked for diving but then banned for two games if UEFA decide that it is a dive, even if the referee has seen it. I am confused.

The transfer door slammed shut at 5pm yesterday and behind the doors it all sounded very quiet. You would have thought that if you listened hard enough that you would be able to hear one of the big clubs celebrating the capture of one of Europe’s finest but it is not to be.

We have Gooners moaning about Arsenal’s lack of transfer action but put yourself into Manchester United’s shoes for a second. Offloading their best player for £80 million or so and second top scorer Tevez jumping ship to their neighbours only to find a fairly average looking team grind out a home victory against Arsenal, defeat against promoted Burnley and victory against a Wigan side that collapsed in the second half.

Rafa must be sobbing into his hands with snot dribbling down his face at the injustice at not being given enough transfer funds to compete. Poor guy, you gotta feel for him. God, some of our fans would absolutely love his work in the transfer market. Buy pretty much anyone who comes available and if they do not work out, who cares, just sell them a year later at half price, I mean, what should he care, its not his money.

My point is, our rivals are not significantly stronger, in fact most appear much weaker and that is great for Arsenal.

Everyone appears to be raving on about Chelsea this year but for my money they are no better than last year, their already ageing squad is…erm ageing and I still think that they will struggle to break down negative opponents who defend well.

In a window where the big clubs haven’t really bought, Arsenal have strengthened the most internally and Arsene has tried to explain that on several occasions, which may not be understood until we deliver the goods.

Overall I am very pleased and even more optimistic. A late Ribery signing for Manchester United could have given them a spark but I just cannot see what they have to offer over the course of the season but as we know… you can never write off Manchester United.

Abou Diaby has spoken for the first time (well to the press, it would be a little sad otherwise) about his blunder at the weekend.

Speaking to The Sun, Diaby said:

“I have to forget it. I made a silly mistake and it’s difficult to explain what happened. The goalkeeper called out to me to leave the ball, but it’s all my fault.

“Even when I look back at the images I ask myself what happened, and I tell myself that it’s just not possible. I was so wound up and soon after I rushed my shot because I didn’t apply myself properly.”

I just wanna swing my arm around him and say listen Abou, don’t worry about it but next time just bloody play the way you’re facing. Some have blamed Almunia for not coming and claiming but Diaby was unchallenged with the ball dropping on his head, coming and clattering Diaby could have been somewhat messy, but Diaby shouldn’t have risked playing it towards his goal.

Diaby was also talking about our chances for the season and his role in the team.

“It could be the right year for Arsenal. I hope to play in a more central position. I prefer our 4-3-3 system as I don’t play in a wide role.”

It certainly is a scrap for a place in central midfield. Although we have lost a few in that area to injury we shouldn’t be weak in that area at any time during the season, well offensively at least.

Cesc, Song, Denilson, Diaby, Nasri, Rosicky, Ramsey, Merida and perhaps even Djourou can step into that position not to mention the quality youngsters we have who are capable of making yet another step up.

I assume that Arsene didn’t purchase another holding midfield player because he expects his other players to be mature enough and competent enough to adjust their game if they are given the task of sitting a little deeper. Diaby did it pretty well at times last year when we suffered injuries and there is no reason why he cannot curb his attacking instincts if needed.

I actually hope that Tomas Rosicky gets some minutes under his belt for his country and comes back with some important match fitness for the coming games. Obviously if he comes back injured then he deserves a slap for buggering off to International duty but perhaps a substitute appearance for the last 20 minutes or so could work in our favour.

Does anyone think we will ever see a midfield trio of Cesc, Nasri and Rosicky in a home game against a negative outfit? Oh that would be tasty but I am not sure if we ever will see that from the start. That is a midfield trio who could make Xavi, Iniesta and Toure chase the proverbial shadow.

Well done to the young Arsenal reserves, they took apart their Birmingham City counterparts by four goals to nil. Apparently Fran Merida was the star of the show which isn’t surprising, the lad looks full of ability. I love his passing range and could well add some balance to our midfield in the future. *considers altering the midfield trio*

I was listening to a podcast from the Times online which featured a few sports journalists and I found a part of it very interesting. For those who think that I am paranoid and everyone is treated the same then just take a little listen to the embeded audio clip.

And that is Stevie G’s and Carra’s loved Liverpool, who hardly ever receive any negative press well not in the way that we do.

Before I disappear into the background again I would like to say that it has been noted that the background colour and font text is not always the most pleasing on the eye and will be addressed in *exaggerated American voice* the new and improved, super duper, all action *end exaggerated American voice* Arsenal Vision website. I have had a sneaky peak of the graphical image of how it will look and it looks quite cool, very nice but it may be a little away from being completed and going live, so I will keep you updated.

ok, well enjoy the rest of your day and probably back again tomorrow.
