It feels like Bendtner is a 25 year old who has been around for a very long time, well the second part of that is correct, he has been around since he was 16 years old and has developed well under Arsene and his coaching staff. 15 goals in 27 starts
A good afternoon to you all,
Plenty of pieces going on today which is quite a surprise on International week and it also gives me a reason to waffle which I am not sure is a good or bad thing.
What is certainly a good thing are the new deals for duo Denilson and Nicklas Bendtner, they have both signed new extended long term deals which gives the club some more contract protection.
They, as well as many are improving at a rapid rate and hopefully that shall continue as the season progresses.
I said at the start of the season that keeping the squad together as more important than bringing in new faces and I still stand by that, although we lost Kolo Toure we have replaced him with what looks like a fantastic replacement in Vermaelen and Adebayor’s presence will be missed but we have plenty of attacking options going forward. Keeping the rest of the players on competitive wages is vital.
With both players being only 21 years old there is plenty of exciting scope for them to develop.
Arsene has praised both of his youngsters.
Speaking about Denilson, Wenger said:
“Denilson’s contribution to the club last season was outstanding,” said Wenger. “His work-rate really was exceptional and it is valuable to have players that we know will perform to the very last minute in such a demanding league.”
His predecessor, Mathieu Flamini has been praised for his energy and hard work and the same can rightfully be said for the young Brazilian. He played the more games than any other squad player last season and that just shows how much Wenger rates the kid.
It feels like Bendtner is a 25 year old who has been around for a very long time, well the second part of that is correct, he has been around since he was 16 years old and has developed well under Arsene and his coaching staff. 15 goals in 27 starts last season is an impressive statistic and he definitely gives the squad another dimension that the likes of Eduardo, Van Persie, Vela and Walcott cannot give.
Wenger said:
“Nicklas has impressed me with his application and determination over the last season. You can see he wants to compete at the highest level and win things with his team-mates. His all-round contribution has improved.”
His work rate and defensive contributions could well explain why he has featured on the right with Van Persie playing in the central position. I still think that Bendtner is getting accustomed to his new role and when he finally adjusts we will see a much more threatening player.
Bendtner has been in demand by all according to Daddy Bendy who is also his agent.
“Many clubs wanted to sign Nicklas, and some of them are among the biggest clubs in the world. It would have been very easy to find a new, great club for Nicklas and when the biggest clubs join in then it is really flattering.
“But he was never in doubt that what he wanted most was to stay at Arsenal. He is so happy with his new contract, and the most important thing is that in Arsene Wenger he has a manager who shows him a lot of confidence.”
Well there you have it. It is nice to have our players talking about our club instead of the annoying other clubs around Europe.
wow, Mr John Cross from The Mirror has been reading around the Arsenal blogs and is risking his career by producing two positive Arsenal articles. I hope he is in a job tomorrow the poor guy, it is just not acceptable is it?
Firstly he was talking about the Eduardo injustice, saying that all cheats should be made an example of and not just Eduardo which is so much common sense that it just makes me feel a little weird coming from a journalist.
The other topic is about the disgraceful chants towards Arsene Wenger. It is no coincidence that the blogs are talking about it and now at long last it has made its way into the tabloids. Arseblog has written a good article about it.
I have already said that Gooners make their own news. When Gooners continuously complain about player x, player y etc the lazy hacks jump on it and enhance the negativity and our club can do without it.
