Robin Van Persie scored from close range, a half volley into the roof of the net which will hopefully do his goal scoring confidence some good when it comes to his return in an Arsenal shirt

Hello Gooners,

I am somewhat out the loop today as I have been away for the last couple days without reading or watching any football. I am returning to where I call home today and thought I’d use the train journey to jot down something down (time of writing)

I did manage to watch some good little International goals from the Gooners this morning. Aaron Ramsey scored what looked like a Matthew Le-Tisser special. Juggling on the edge of the area backflicking the ball to a team mate, receiving a pass back, controlling on his thigh and then smacking in the volley into the bottom corner.

As a commentator said about Paul Merson once upon a time, ‘he is not a great goal scorer but he is a scorer of great goals’

Robin Van Persie scored from close range, a half volley into the roof of the net which will hopefully do his goal scoring confidence some good when it comes to his return in an Arsenal shirt. If I was a betting man, I would wager him to get on the score sheet at the City of Manchester stadium on Saturday.

Nicklas Bendtner also rifled a left foot shot high into the net for Denmark which bodes well. There hasn’t been any injury news as yet from those who played but unfortunately we have received the news that Johan Djourou will be out for six months or so due to a knee operation that he had to undergo.

Like I have said, one injury to one position is usually ok, we can deal with that, it is when we start getting 2-4 in the same area that we and probably most teams suffer. Unfortunately, we have all become familiar with this problem. It always appears to happen at the same time, so I will now worry when Vermaelen and Gallas go into any physical contact.

Andrey Arshavin has praised his manager and appears to be content with life in North London.

“As for life off the pitch, I haven’t quite adapted yet, but player relations at Arsenal are good. I was made to feel very welcome. Also, Arsenal only sign players on Arsène Wenger’s say-so Wenger doesn’t look at a player, he looks inside a player. He sees the player’s qualities and how best to utilise him.

“If it hadn’t worked out so well, maybe I’d have complained, but it’s going fine, so it would be hard for me to claim I’m being played out of position.”

If anyone tells you that Gazidis has been buying the players then just slap them in the face, regardless of who they are. Utter nonsense, once again it is just rubbish designed to undermine our manager.

Back to Arshavin, we are yet to see his best and I do not think it is to do with his position, in fact playing wide of a front three will benefit him more than wide of the four man midfield like the played last year, the difference this year is that he looks unfit. He looks like he has gained weight and will need to fix that before we can see his best form.

He was quiet at Old Trafford, but when he was in the game he made things happen. Scored one, almost scored another, close to having an assist and should have won a clear cut penalty.

Nicklas Bendtner has been talking about his desire to play in a central role instead of wide on the right and many would suggest that the Dane and Dutchman should really swap positions and on paper you would say that it seems to make sense. Arsene must have his tactical reasons for this. I would assume that he doesn’t think that Van Persie defends well enough. The only reason why I say this is because only makes that change when he is chasing a game.

Last season at Upton Park he brought on Adebayor from the bench and switched Van Persie to the right and we won the game with late goals. This is the only reason why I think he would do that.

Well, that is all I can muster for now without reading the latest. I shall write a proper blog tomorrow.

Enjoy your evening.
