Nine goals for Cesc Fabregas and now top scorer in all competitions for Arsenal, when you add the highest number of assists in the team this season you are talking about a truly world class player

Wolves 1 Arsenal 4 – Premier League
They say the mark of a champion is to win when you are not at your best, to have the ability to grind out three points when your vehicle isn’t purring. If this is the case then I will gladly take 4-1 victories when we are not at our brilliant best.
I was very surprised to see the line up before the game and was hoping that the changes would not affect our fluency. We have all wondered who Wenger had in mind to replace Song if the tank was not available to play. In usual circumstances Denilson would be the one to come in and sit ahead of the back four but the Brazilian is not back until after the next round of International matches. When I saw the Cesc, Diaby and Ramsey trio, I expected Abou Diaby to be the one sitting deeper, the one who would replace Alex Song but instead it was 18 year old Aaron Ramsey who was given the responsibility. Ramsey is certainly a rough diamond, massive potential and I love the fact that he always wants the ball, no matter where he is on the pitch, he is confident enough to take charge and play his way out of any situation. A couple of times he played sloppy passes but overall he showed plenty of quality in his first Premier League start of the season.
Ramsey is more of a Flamini than a Song, plenty of energy, can run for 90 minutes but he isn’t going to physically dominate you, well at least not yet and also he doesn’t have the height that Song has so filling in for central defenders who maraud forward may not work as well as it does with Song.
I expected Tomas Rosicky to start the game but perhaps Wenger is playing it safe with him once again since his latest set back.
Wolves started the game with plenty of passion and commitment, they certainly were not intending on just sitting back and letting Arsenal come onto them. They planned on using set pieces and crosses to upset Arsenal and their first corner on 6 minutes was cleared at away at the back post from Kieran Gibbs.
Three minutes later Ebanks-Blake beat Ramsey to a near post corner but his header whistled narrowly wide. It seems to be our achilles heal at the moment, we are giving away chances from set pieces but I suppose plenty of teams are at the moment.
Arsenal could well have gone behind if Christophe Berra had judged the flight of the ball better and headed towards Almunia’s goal instead of away from the goal.
That would prove to be the last sight of Arsenal’s goal for Wolves for a while as the Arsenal attacking machine cranked up the tempo and searched for the opener. Abou Diaby came off injured with a calf injury. Alex Song was instructed to take off his flip flops off and place down his margarita as his rest was cut down to 24 minutes. Song slotted back into the position that he owns thus far and Ramsey was pushed into a box to box midfield role.
The first goal was started and finished by one man, and that man wasn’t an Arsenal player. French defender Ronald Zubar fouled Eduardo near the byline and the resulting cross was headed behind for a corner to Arsenal. Cesc’s corner flew onto the thigh of Zubar and into his own net. Eduardo clearly didn’t want to claim it, walking away with his hands high, indicating that he had no part in it which isn’t strictly true as he won the free kick in the first place and pressured Zubar into the mistake. 1-0 Arsenal.
Wolves were caught hopelessly exposed for the second goal. Song nicking the ball from Wolves and Cesc setting Ramsey away with a delicate flicked pass, which set Ramsey and Eduardo two v one from the half way line. Ramsey’s pass was not really played into the right position for Eduardo to run in on goal instead he had to check back and with the goal keeper advancing off his line, Eduardo chipped the ball over his head and into the net. One second glance I noticed the deflection off Craddock’s head which helped it into the net. Without the help of the Wolves defender the chip could well have sailed wide of the far post.
The referee clearly fancying himself as a defensive midfielder couldn’t get out of the way of a Wolves pass, Sagna exchanged passes with Cesc Fabregas who made what is now a trademark late run into the box. Sagna who now seems to have a habit of finding Van Persie in the penalty area floated a perfect pass to the feet of Van Persie who executed a wonderful right footed layoff into the path of captain fantastic, Cesc took a touch and placed it wide of the keeper. It was by far the best goal of the game. Van Persie’s touch was reminiscent of a great number 10 that plied his trade at Arsenal for many years.

In the second half the team took their feet slightly off the pedals, controlling the game whilst conserving energy, Wolves looked pretty demoralised but I guess they haven’t played a team with the quality of this Arsenal team, the step up to the Premier League is big enough, but when you see a team with so many attacking options it must just put the fear of god into them.
Arshavin scored the fourth from yet another set piece, goalkeeper Hennessey only managing to punch a Cesc corner to Arshavin who struck a shot on the bounce into the corner of the net. Clearly it is not just Arsenal who are conceding goals from corner kicks.
Wolves grabbed their consolation goal minutes from time from Jody Craddock who beat Vermaelen to a header at the near post which flew past the static Almunia. Craddock twisted and turned Vermaelen in knots with his movement before the cross but it was the first mistake of the game for Vermaelen who was once again fantastic at the back for Arsenal. Stepping out, winning the ball and setting up an attack. So he can be forgiven for not getting tight enough to Craddock.
One thing I noticed was the difference that Alex Song makes to our team, he looks so assured and strong in possession. When he came into the team as a kid his first touches were to whack the ball high out of play, these days he is turning past opposition players and playing a pass into the feet of an Arsenal player.
Diaby will be absolutely vital for the Chelsea game so lets hope his injury problem is only for a short while.
After watching the mighty Gunners fire in eight goals in three days I flicked over to football first on Sky and watched Manchester City make a pigs ear of a Burnley team that hadn’t gained an away point in the Premier League. The quality of football between Arsenal and Manchester City is huge. Any Arsenal supporter who feels that we have problems at the back should take a look at them to understand what defensive problems really are.
Later on today Manchester United take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and I am hoping for a draw but I think Manchester United could be facing a beating. Manchester United have looked average for most of this season and they will not be able to hide at Stamford Bridge.
Both teams will be looking over their shoulders at the Gooners who continue to obliterate all in front of them.
