Arsene will not want to rush his player back too quickly and suffer a relapse. He has done this in the past with players and has regretted it and these days he is much more cautious
A very good afternoon to you all. It is Monday morning and the talk of Robin Van Persie continues as I am sure it will do for a few days yet. As soon as Van Persie hit the ground in agony his screams were heard all around the blogs and sports sites, various timeframe’s were being banded about. It was feared that Van Persie would likely miss 2-3 months or so we were led to believe. Robin has since come out and given better news that it could keep him out for 6 weeks rather than the 12 weeks that was spoken about over the weekend.
Van Persie said:
‘I have had a scan. I am probably out for between four and six weeks.’
Personally I will not listen to any estimates, even from our very own Van Persie until I hear what the manager has to say. Last season Cesc Fabregas declared that he was ready to play long before he was given his match shirt again from the management team.
Arsene will not want to rush his player back too quickly and suffer a relapse. He has done this in the past with players and has regretted it and these days he is much more cautious when it comes to bringing back an injured player to the team.
To be honest, I do not wish to dwell on the injury too much, it has happened and as frustrating as it is, it doesn’t help if we continue to moan about it. However it does make you wonder why it is us that is back in this situation again. Why is it not Rooney who comes back crocked or Drogba or anyone else, once again the injury curse has struck. I suppose the quality of our frontline softens the blow for me somewhat. If we didn’t have Eduardo, Vela, Walcott, Arshavin and Rosicky then I would be more concerned.
Eduardo should be the man to come in and fill the boots, if not fill them, at least wear a different kind, a unique style to Robin but equally as good.
Many people are suggesting that Eduardo cannot play the central role, he cannot do the things that Van Persie can etc and that to a certain extent is true. (the not doing Van Persie thing, I mean) but this is just it. Eduardo is a different player who will bring his own strengths, his own skill set to the table. Eduardo has played as a lone ranger for his country and is a very good link player as well as a deadly finisher.
One player who I would love to see given a chance in that role is the young Mexican Carlos Vela. Something about that lad just tells me that he would do great things in our first side in Van Persie’s absence. Quicker than both Van Persie and Eduardo and arguably a better finisher than the Dutchman, he could really make a name for himself if given the chance.
Luckily I am not the one with the final decision, the boss will make the correct call for the team and Sunderland away will be a good test to see if that works ahead of the Chelsea game.
And back onto something positive. Aaron Ramsey is being praised from pillar to post after single handedly crushing the Scots over the weekend, apparently he has pulled out of the Welsh squad with a back problem, I am not sure how serious that is or if it a simple case of precaution. With Alex Song one yellow away from suspension you wouldn’t be surprised if Song had another sit out ahead of the Chelsea clash where his power would be vital against the likes of Essien and co. Ramsey could feature in the Arsenal midfield against Sunderland if Wenger is planning ahead.
Welsh legend Gary Speed has likened Ramsey to Cesc Fabregas.
Speed said:
“He is very special and lovely to watch, just a fantastic footballer. He reminded me of Cesc Fabregas, especially when he went through for his goal. If anyone can nurture a talent, it is Arsene and, in that respect, Ramsey is very, very lucky.”
He is a different player to Cesc in my mind, at least at the moment. The first time I watched Cesc at 16 he was playing it simple, dictating the play with his wonderful passing range but when I watched Ramsey for the first time at Barnet I witnessed an all action hero, wanting to be everywhere, very dynamic. Taking the ball off the toes of the center half and driving forward with the ball.
He impressed me that day, although clearly trying to do too much. He has curbed that desire somewhat these days and now plays for the team much more. It is amazing to think that he is just only 18 years old a few years down the line at 22-23 and we shall see a massive player for club and country, that I have no doubt.
I was flicking around the news feed and I saw this headline JAMIE REDKNAPP’S WEEKEND WATCH: Let’s not go nuts over England’s defeat to Brazil – Daily Mail
What a horrible combination. Jamie Redknapp and the Daily Mail go hand in hand. I cannot wait for an Arsenal related article. He can really take the gloves off and go to town.
ok, before I make tracks I would like to thank all those who contributed to the making of the new Arsenal Vision website and I must say the latest version looks very good so far. It is a massive improvement on the current site. Without further ado the winner of Football Manager 2010 was chosen at random and the winner is Andrew Gray. I shall send an email to confirm details.
Right, enjoy your day. Back tomorrow.
