Ramsey looking good but give him time / Vela signs and will come good

Aaron was splendid on Wednesday and deserve the praise he is getting, a super prospect with bags of potential but lets not all get carried away, as I have been on players like Wilshere. It wasn’t long ago when he didn’t live up to his potential against Manchester City

Happy Friday Gooners,

For me, this week has shot by in a flash, and that can be quite depressing given the fact that I am no longer 17 years old and without a care in the world. But the week shooting past has some plus points like the weekend and more importantly Arsenal matches. A little nervous about the upcoming game which I suppose is exactly how I feel before any big clash. It is the whole Liverpool doing crap then coming up against us sort of thing that is bothering me I guess. Anyway, still time to talk about that game so I shall place it neatly back on the football memory shelf for the next couple of days.

Carlos Vela has signed a new long term contract with the club which is good news. Without reading any other opinions about it I can just hear the ‘what has he done to deserve….’ comments flying around the blogs and forums clearly missing the very important fact that he is not the finished article and should not be judged as if he is. Eduardo, Bendtner, Van Persie and even Arshavin so it seems are ahead of him in the striking pecking order, a pecking order that has been beaten and battered by the big, tough and scary Mr injury man. I would suggest that before some think of writing off a young player they should take a quick glance across to Mr Alex Song and remember what he was at 17 compared to the tank that is seen cruising around the Emirates turf.

From one piece of good striking news to the other end of the spectrum. Nicklas Bendtner was supposed to barge in and rescue our tiny little players from the big ugly bad men of erm Stoke but no, he has had a set back and the new return target is now all the way in the new year which is pretty damn pants. Bendtner must be thumping the treatment table in frustration as he has been chomping at the bit (as apposed to chopping of the bit that I said a couple of days ago. What exactly is this bit?) to play in the center forward position that he feels is his best position but instead he will have to be patient and wait for that chance again.

Aaron Ramsey is enjoying life at Arsenal and is fighting tooth and nail (is it cliche day today?) to get into the first team and remain there.

“I am trying my hardest in games like this, to show what I can do. I also work hard in training as well, so I am just concentrating on what I have to do and then it is up to the manager.

“I am learning every day, so it was the right move for me to join Arsenal – and opportunities like this are good for me and for the young players.”

Aaron was splendid on Wednesday and deserve the praise he is getting, a super prospect with bags of potential but lets not all get carried away, as I have been on players like Wilshere. It wasn’t long ago when he didn’t live up to his potential against Manchester City so a bit of positive caution is needed I would say. But at 18, he is doing fantastic, I look forward to a 22 year old Ramsey full of confidence. I can remember a young Steven Gerrard coming to Highbury in a 0-1 victory to Liverpool. Titi Camara scored that day and Gerrard looked like a good prospect, neat and tidy lots of energy but clearly not the Gerrard we see in 2009. Which once again is another reference about the likes of Vela, Walcott etc

Even with our stupid looking injury list, the midfield will provide plenty of food for thought with Abou Diaby coming back and Ramsey putting in a super Athens showing. Stop trying to make me talk about Sunday already. Yes, I am a little excited about the game as I am sure you are.

Unfortunatley I have to make tracks, have a lovely Friday evening. Back tomorrow.
