Two goals in two games and two very good goals at that, especially his strike at Anfield. He lacks a physical presence of course he does but he has that special ability to pull something out of the bag when you least expect it
A jolly good afternoon to you,
This Tuesday lunchtime we are in the middle of Liverpool and Burnley. Much of the Gooner talk has been of the Arshavin strike, Wenger’s words, Gerrard diving, Almunia goal keeping and injuries now we are looking forward to the game tomorrow wondering which changes will be made both enforced or rotated.
Wenger has spoken about the need to be consistent and I agree with that, it is key. Consistency separates the also-rans and the champions. The trouble is finding consistency is difficult enough without having to deal with continuous rotating injuries around our squad. I am hoping that the bad injury luck will end and our players will mostly stay clear of lingering knocks and strains.
Arshavin is in the new batch of injury niggles that Wenger will have to look at ahead of our trip to Burnley. Arshavin would rather play through the pain barrier.
Arshavin said:
“When I struck the ball at that moment, the pain worsened. Yes, this injury has been bothering me for a while.
The instep of my foot has been causing me pain for a long time, but I want and I will play in the next game. If you came on the pitch – endure and play.”
Two goals in two games and two very good goals at that, especially his strike at Anfield. He lacks a physical presence of course he does but he has that special ability to pull something out of the bag when you least expect it. Van Persie has that but now he is missing for a while, it is vital for Arshavin to continue to help the team to score goals wether it is assisting or scoring rockets.
Cesc Fabregas doesn’t see why size is an issue. Apparently it is the motion in the ocean that really counts.
Cesc said:
“Football is not all about size. We’ve seen successful teams in the past without any physical presence who could play great football, We showed in the second half at Anfield that if you play good football, it is very difficult to stop.
“There is still a long way to go in the title race. It is more open than ever, any team can beat any other team. But we are happy with our situation and we can improve in many ways. Coming back to win is the sign of a big team, but even the best team in the world can get better.”
Jokes aside, size in football can have an impact in certain situation like set pieces but overall it matters very little. When smaller and more technical teams beat clumsy larger sides nothing is mentioned about size. It is a little like the stupid Arsenal cannot win up north on a cold night. What fool made that up, and did they bother to look at any facts? We must have drawn against Bolton or something and then some anti Arsenal idiotic pundit came out with that which then transformed into fact.
Having said that we cannot be complacent going into the game tomorrow because Burnley have played very well at home at times and beaten the likes of Manchester United so I hope Arsene drums that into the players beforehand.
Cesc was called up for Charity game which will be declined and rightly so. I wonder if Cesc will be disappointed about that or if he will understand the lunacy in taking our captain away when we are down to the ol bare bones.
Back again tomorrow.
