Collymore the hypocrite, P45 for Brown and Messi’s value

It is the same for certain blogs out there who have spent the whole season ridiculing our squad. Apparently we can never play 4-3-3, because we do not have the players to do so. Wenger’s French spoilt kids do not have the stomach for a fight

It is a very quiet day on the Arsenal front, I am bringing this a little later today as I have not been able to sit down and share any thoughts that I may have.

Before I set off on my way this afternoon, I read a rehashed article about Stan Collymore [yeah, yeah I know I shouldn’t] telling Arsenal fans that they should be eating humble pie because some have doubted Bendtner’s abilities.

Is this guy for real? Is he really mentioning humble pie, Arsenal and not his own name in the same sentence?

Look to a certain extent I have to agree with him [shivers inside] perhaps many Gooners have jumped the gun on yet another young player and that unfortunately appears to be common for all football fans and not just Arsenal fans.

If this was said by someone who wasn’t so bloody narrow minded and aggressively opinionated then I could listen to what he has to say.

Stan Collymore has berated, slammed, slagged and undermined Arsenal and Arsene Wenger all season long. He was blabbering on about how Arsenal do not have a defensive midfield player in our squad and when I emailed his show asking him if he has ever heard of a player called Alex Song before he went on a long winded rant about how he went out to the ACN and watched Song play, yet he described him as a young player who was not yet cut out for the demands of the Premier League. I kid you not!

That is the sort of insanity that is now being paraded as football punditry in this country.

I know I shouldn’t listen to his rubbish and that is a fair point. I really shouldn’t take any notice but when I am in the kitchen and my radio is next to me, it is very easy to flick it on to listen about the sport I love so dearly. I suppose they are getting what they want from me, a response.

It is the same for certain blogs which I will avoid mentioning, who have spent the whole season ridiculing our squad. Apparently we can never play 4-3-3, because we do not have the players to do so. Wenger’s French spoilt kids do not have the stomach for a fight. Alex Song is not a footballer and we would be fighting for fourth again.

These idiots have been continuously banging on about their opinions all season and the back peddling is rather humorous. All those points have never been spoken about again and now we are the form side with a great chance of winning the league. Once again, I shouldn’t be reading the usual suspects so I am creating a rod for my own back by reading them, but to be honest, I get satisfaction from watching them squirm around like worms on fishing hooks.

Hopefully Wenger will have educated them and knocked them down a peg or two, so they can come back next year and write something more closer to the actual truth.

While I continue my hate rant, I was proud and ever so happy to hear that Phillip Brown has lost his job at Hull City and we were the last team to be able to push him out the door. Very good news. The great news for him, is that he now has more time to work on that tan of his.

Sol Campbell has rubbished our ‘easy’ run in and has stated that we will have a tough remainder of the season. I tend to agree with him. When you look at the league table and look at the positions of our opponents then you could be forgiven for thinking the run in will be straight forward. But when you look at going to St Andrews, Ewood Park and Shite Hart and then expect nine points in all of those games then it becomes a different proposition. It is going to take an unbelievable effort to win all of our remaining games, especially away from the Emirates but we know we are capable of this.

We know that we are one of the top sides in the division and when both teams are at their best, our team will come up triumphant. When you throw in many variables then it becomes less clear. All we can do as Gooners is support our players and hope that we have the luck to go all the way.

The one game at a time philosophy still appears the best strategy. Lets focus on kicking West Ham’s butt and West Ham only. The rest will have their time.

I got home late last night and I flicked on Sky Sports hoping to catch the La Liga highlights of the games I missed during the early evening.

I watched Barcelona take apart Valencia. Thierry Henry came on and made a big difference to the shape of the side.

Lionel Messi was incredible, scored a hat trick and tormented the Valencia defence.

Messi’s individual brilliance is what sets them apart from other sides in the world. They pass the ball very well and they can pass teams to death but when it is tight and you need to open up the opposition, just feed Messi on the right and let him carry the ball.

I think we have missed that from our team at times. Chelsea at home was the perfect example, they defended very well, we passed and passed and could not break them down. We needed that something special from one of our players to commit Terry inside the box. Arshavin has done that in our last two matches and we have scored from it. Samir Nasri showed he is capable of it but he doesn’t do it enough for me.

Further down the line, I am looking at the likes of Wilshere and Wellington to be that type of player but as we know patience will be needed.

I would love to see a two legged tie with us and Barcelona. Are there two other more entertaining and gifted sides in world football?

Ok, enough waffle for now, time to go.

Back again tomorrow.
