Robin & Nik should work well & How Bolton can overcome Chelsea

It has been confirmed, the green light has flashed on, the thumbs have been flipped up for Robin Van Persie to become part of the Arsenal squad at White Hart Lane

There has been plenty of noise going on about takeovers and Lady Nina parting with her, erm shares. All of a sudden we are being swamped with Arsenal power control stories in the media. I have a very limited knowledge of the financial side of the club, shares and takeovers and I will not pretend to know anymore than I do but from what I have gathered, Lady Nina has been looking to sell for a little while now, all of a sudden it has been made public and now everyone is jumping on the story.

From what Kronke has said, he is not looking to put in a bid for the club and if any other share holders with remotely dodgy agendas want to get their grubby hands on our club then the chances are that it will be blocked, so we are pretty much as we were.

Obviously I want the club to be run as best as possible and right now it seems to be doing just that. As I have no control over what goes on behind the scenes, I shall just sit here crossed fingered (bloody hard to type like that) and hope that the club remains in good hands for as long as possible.

What does interest me more is what happens on the pitch and that is where I want to continue today’s blog. Two very important matches are taking place today and tomorrow. I hold the smallest tiniest bit of hope that Bolton featuring Jack Wilshere can do us a favour at Stamford Bridge this evening. I have been thinking of tactics that Owen Coyle can use to get a result. I have watched 7 tapes (VHS will only do) of previous Bolton and Chelsea meetings and I think I have cracked it. After scribbling down on several sheets of paper with formations and defensive and offensive moves, I think I have just the answer.

Owen Coyle should move away from his attacking, passing football and just cram all eleven players into the goal, filling every area of the goal. Lampard may blast a few into the midriff (or lower) on some of the Bolton players but it is all about taking one for the team, and our team for that matter.

Apart from that, I cannot see how Chelsea will let this one slip. In that case we have to hope that Liverpool and Tottenham can do the business against them as Chelsea’s away from isn’t that impressive.

Like I continue to say, none of this means diddly squat unless we drive a stake into the heart of the scummers. It has been confirmed, the green light has flashed on, the thumbs have been flipped up for Robin Van Persie to become part of the Arsenal squad at White Hart Lane. What an introduction to life back in the Premier League. I hope he has been sharpening those boots since returning to fitness. Don’t expect nothing more than a 15 minute cameo and do expect him to be a little rusty after being out of action since November, which clearly is a long time without top level football. Anything extra will be a bonus.

It annoys me to hear snivelling and nose blowing about Wayne Rooney’s recent injury problems, in fact I don’t even want to call them problems. Imagine if Wayne Rooney was out from November? That is what we had to deal with, not only that but they would have had to have had either Berbatov or Owen out for three months or so during that same period. I would love to know how they would have handled that situation. Gooners who have a tendency to be a little harsh on our squad should think about that.

When Manchester United suffered a few injuries at the back they ended up playing Carrick in the back four and subsequently ended up on the wrong end of a thrashing at the hands of Fulham.

As usual I digress. Robin is likely to be on the bench against the Spuds, hoping to get on for 15 to 20 minutes at the end of the game. He now has come big competition with Nicklas Bendtner in the form of his Arsenal career. We must not forget that Bendtner is scoring goals in a side that is less creative than the side that Robin featured in earlier in the season, the side was scoring goals more freely and games were less pressured than the games in April.

This is probably no a short term question but it will be interesting to see who keeps the central role with both players having minutes and form under their belts. We have missed Van Persie’s ability to bring others into play, his first touch unrivaled. What it does give Arsene is two players who can switch positions and score goals in big games.

Looking ahead to next season for a brief moment, Arsene will hopefully have an interesting situation at the beginning of next season. Eduardo will have a pre season behind him and hopefully avoid the niggling injuries that have effectively written him off this season, Chamakh looks like a likely addition, Bendtner will start the season at the peak of his powers and Van Persie is erm.. Van Persie. If Carlos Vela does not get more games than he has done in recent weeks then a loan move to a Premier League side could do his development the world of good. If we can keep that collection of players relativity fit then we have a good selection of firepower and options.

Quite a lot has been made about the Wembley pitch. Something needs to be done cries Harry Redknapp, the pitch is a disgrace screams out a tabloid. So what is the problem? It is true isn’t it?

Well let me tell you. Cast your minds to last seasons semi final of the FA Cup when we lost to Chelsea.

Wenger said:

“It is not a pitch. When you build a stadium like this it is still not a pitch. It is laughable. The quality of the pitch is disastrous.”

We did not get the same reaction as we have today. It was more of the same moaning Wenger or bad loser Wenger. Now all of a sudden the pitch is poor.

Ah well, I am swimming against the tide here I feel. But yes, I agree with Arsene that the pitch needs to be sorted out. How can you hold cup finals on that type of surface and expect to get away with it. Unfortunately these are the people who are looking after the game in this country.

I guess life can be a pitch.

Like the financial situation at the club, I cannot control any of that so I shall look forward to the clash tomorrow, I shall write my preview this evening ready to stick up in the morning. Hopefully I will be in good spirits after Bolton nick something off Chelsea. But I shall not hold my breath, unless I choose to go swimming under water)

Back again tomorrow.
