Koscielny and Silvestre to start defender merry-go-round?

I thought we were supposed to agree a fee with the club first but hey, I cannot pretend that it does not happen in pretty much every transfer. How do you know if a player is interested and if the player is the correct character unless you speak to him

Back to back blogs eh? Check me out. Feeling worse for wear today though. Three broken hours of drunken sleep has left me in a daze today. I was watching Germany trying to pull themselves back from a goal down and a very stupid sending off. Stupid refereeing decision and not stupid actions from Klose.

I do not quite understand how you can get a yellow card for getting a tackle wrong by a fraction of a second. Players are not machines, they are not computers and they will make mistakes. Klose was a fraction away from winning the ball but Klose is not a defender which brings me onto the topic of the day. See what I did there?

Arsene Wenger has said that a defender should be finding his way to the Emirates by the end of the world cup.

Wenger said:

“We are not close (to signing anyone) at the moment, We are quiet. But there will be something happening before the end of the World Cup certainly on the defensive side.”

How do you define being far away from a signing? But then being almost certain to buying a player before the world cup ends in a few weeks time. Only Arsene and the board will know who the targets are but if I was to put some money on guessing the potential suitor then my cash would go on Laurent Koscielny.

I read the Koscielny quotes on Gooner Talk and it sounds very interesting.

Koscielny said:

“Arsenal is one of the biggest European clubs, who plays in the Champions League. I think it’s a good club to progress further. I do not want to miss this opportunity,

“They have contacted my representatives this week. I met with Arsene Wenger, as did my agents after the end of last season. It went well.”

Is that even allowed? I thought we were supposed to agree a fee with the club first but hey, I cannot pretend that it does not happen in pretty much every transfer. How do you know if a player is interested and if the player is the correct character unless you speak to him.

Rumours have also gone around that Arsenal are after Tomas Vermaelen’s Belgian partner Jan Vertonghen also from Ajax, but those are only rumours.

While player(s) appear to be slowly heading into Arsenal, the door is left swinging as Mikel Silvestre drags his bags out of the Arsenal doors and is heading abroad to Abu Dhabi club Al Jazira. According to ‘reports’ Mikel could be earning some serious cash. I had an image of Silvestre on a L’Oréal advert whispering ‘Because I’m worth it’

A few Gooners are getting panicky because we have only signed one player so far and my advice to you would be to chill the hell out. The window closes at the end of August and we are only half way through June crickey. Plenty of deals will be done from many clubs around the world and many of those deals are linked in with each other.

I suppose I don’t need to talk about the world cup, you all saw France embarrass themselves and you also saw Vela get injured. The poor wee lad.

I guess I shall watch yet another dull England performance, probably along with a victory. I may be a little silly with this suggestion but perhaps England can try and keep the ball on the floor and play some attacking football perhaps? Silly me, I know.

Back tomorrow.
