Ozil is a player very much in the Wenger mould but he is a player that surely wouldn’t be signed if Cesc remained at Arsenal, given that they play in the same spaces on the pitch. There have been strong rumours linking us with one of the stand out players of this world cup
Only 7 more days of this painful and mentally draining experience. If you close your eyes and listen carefully you can hear the faint sounds of galloping horses in the distance. Messrs Nasri, Walcott, Vermaelen, Arshavin and the rest of the non world cup venturing crew are trotting in from a land far away in the aim to reach Barnet next weekend. It is usually a sunny day with the players often sporting a new kit and fans are always looking hard at the new faces that have recently moved to the best club side in the world.
I have been eating plain dry bread during this world cup but come Saturday I will be given a nice roast dinner with all the trimmings.
I suppose I cannot be ungrateful, we usually do not even get any football during these months, so I cannot really complain. The 3rd and 4th playoff game is today and like many who are not German or Uruguayan, I couldn’t really care less. A little less but not much.
Tomorrow’s game is very intriguing though. It should be an entertaining game of football. Two attack minded teams, well I say that but both teams have been pretty conservative over the duration of this world cup. I should say two teams with the potential to be very attack minded.
Both teams will have two defensive minded players in front of their back four and I expect both teams to want to keep their shape and organisation first and foremost. Spain will rely on their possession whilst the Dutch will look to Robben, Van Persie and Sneijder to make the difference in the final third.
Cesc Fabregas is hoping to play some part in the game.
Cesc said:
“I’m so proud Spain is in the World Cup final, but it means nothing if we don’t win it, I am desperate to play at least some part in tomorrow’s game. What player on the planet wouldn’t be? It’s everything we dream of from the moment we start kicking a ball to the moment we learn all about the world’s greatest football tournament.
“I can’t deny it has hurt not to be in Spain’s starting line-ups throughout this tournament. But I only have to look at our incredible players – and especially our midfielders – to realise I’m so honoured to be part of this magnificent Spanish side. Of course I believe I can play a part in making history for our country, which has never won a World Cup before.
“If I’m lucky enough to get a start, I will give everything I have. But if I have to start on the bench, then so be it. All I can pray for is that I get a chance to play some part of this unbelievable game. If I’m not in the team, I will know deep down that Spain winning the World Cup is more important than Cesc Fabregas starting the game or not.
“So I will still be 100 per cent behind the boys who do go out there. And I will be thinking about what I will do, what I must do if I come on. To just be a part of a World Cup final would be beyond belief, the stuff of dreams. That’s why I just can’t wait for tomorrow.”
Cesc has always said the right things in the right manor, yet still able to speak of his frustration without making negative headlines. I have said it before and I will say it again, I do not think Cesc will get on the pitch, unless Spain are losing late on in the second half.
I would love to know how many players in the history of football have had such an influence on their club side, contributing to so much that was positive yet play so little for their national team. At a higher level of course. I am sure we have a few players who are the bee’s knees for Scunthorpe United.
The Cesc saga continues to erm.. continue I guess. New Catalan loud mouth Rosell who does not want these negotiations public has spoken to a Spanish newspaper (funny that) claiming that he wants a deal done quickly.

“It’s now or never, We’ll do it fast, it cannot be drawn out any longer. I’ll try to meet with [Arsenal Manager Arsene] Wenger, and we’ll see what happens.”
I am beginning to wonder if Arsenal’s public stance is different from what is happening behind the scenes. Barcelona have continued to speak as if they have had a few flashes of Arsenal’s knickers when everyone else had their backs turned. Surely a club cannot be that stupid and arrogant. Ok, I guess they are but I just think [insert smoke and fire line]
There must be quite a few potential variables going on.
Barcelona in need of money
Selling Ibrahimovic
Arsenal and Barcelona agreeing fee
Joe Cole
Mesut Ozil
Jack Wilshere loan
Will we see Cesc Fabregas during this pre season? Has Cesc played his last game for Arsenal? Or are Barcelona just blowing out hot air while Arsenal stand firm and repeat that our captain is not for sale.
Ozil is a player very much in the Wenger mould but he is a player that surely wouldn’t be signed if Cesc remained at Arsenal, given that they play in the same spaces on the pitch. There have been strong rumours linking us with one of the stand out players of this world cup. He is still very young and has plenty of scope to improve. A typical Wenger player who has the eye for the final ball as well as scoring goals himself. He could be a direct replacement for Fabregas is Cesc was allowed to leave the club.
So like I say, I am sure plenty if going on at the same time behind the scenes, plenty that supporters are not aware of and there will be plenty that doesn’t happen, that will never get out to the public.
Owen Coyle is still very much after Jack Wilshere and wants a second dose of Jack for the coming campaign.
Coyle said:
“We had dialogue over the summer and since we’ve come back and we’ll continue to do that. And I’ve said, and I’m on record as saying, I want to thank Arsenal and Arsene (Wenger) and obviously Jack for coming last year because he certainly helped us and what we’re trying to do.
“And again I feel, and I’m a bit biased in wanting him back, but I certainly feel another loan period with us would take him on another level again.”
Like I said earlier in the article, I think that it could be dependant on a few factors. I would love Jack on the bench coming on at the Emirates when we are 3-0 up with half an hour to go. Having the freedom to express himself without the pressure. Playing with top players, feeding him the ball in the final third would do him the world of good. But then there is the opposite end of the ZX Spectrum. We are losing 1-0 away from home and pressure is on Wilshere to make the difference when perhaps he isn’t quite ready for a high number of top level games.
Starting 25-30 games for Bolton would be much more beneficial to his development instead of 15 substitute appearances at Arsenal.
Jack may start some pre season games for Arsenal and show Arsene that he is more than ready to take the Premier league by storm and then Cesc is ousted to the bench, ok perhaps not but you catch my drift.
Time to dash. I may not be around tomorrow. Mrs Lean is going to stay with her mother whilst I am left with three little Lean’s to look after, so I doubt I’ll have time to sneeze let alone blog but will be back on Monday to talk about Cesc’s new extension with Arsenal as well as Wenger’s Ozil swoop.
Energy goes where thought goes people, energy goes where thought goes.
Enjoy the games.
