Robben did not complete one pass to Robin & Wenger’s Barca dismiss

Certainly no skirts being lifted there from Arsene, more like a thick pair of army combats with some steel capped boots. I am proud of the way we have dealt with the situation

The book has slammed shut on the 2010 world cup and the team who I didn’t want to win, won. If I put my negative Barcelona feelings aside then I guess the Spanish deserve the title as the best team in the world. Euro 2008 and then World cup 2010 winners tells its own story doesn’t it?

I am pleased for Cesc, getting some pitch time and making the assist for the winning goal. But I feel terrible for Robin Van Persie who looked on the verge of crying at the final whistle.

The poor guy hardly had any service throughout the whole world cup and when you have Robben and Sneijder playing around you then then there should be no excuse for a poor lack of supply.

* Robben did not complete one single pass to Van Persie in the game last night! Robben playing just wide of the central striker did not pass the ball once to the central striker, what kind of madness is that? It is more than unfair to say that Van Persie had a poor game when he wasn’t given the ball.

Van Persie is no Messi, he cannot pick it up on the half way line and burst past four players and get himself into the penalty area. He needs to be found when making short runs into space. He needs balls slid down the side of him so he can jink onto his left foot.

The Dutch were guilty of some very rough treatment towards the Spanish and the reaction from the pundits at half time and full time was as hypocritical as ever. Arseblog’s take on the matter is pretty much spot on.

It is fine to bang on about the only way to play Arsenal and then the next minute condemn others who take up the same tactics on another team. All I wish is that someone was there to pull these people up on their selective rubbish but we are never going to get that.

It is looking more and more likely that Cesc Fabregas will remain an Arsenal player next season. Cesc said that he is an Arsenal player and is proud to be while Wenger made his thoughts very clear on French television.

Wenger said:

Cesc is not for sale, no matter what Barcelona offer.

Certainly no skirts being lifted there from Arsene, more like a thick pair of army combats with some steel capped boots. I am proud of the way we have dealt with the situation. Barcelona’s constant talking may have scrambled my head for a moment but the club have acted as professional and classy as always.

We know that Cesc would like to join Barcelona but he loves his life at Arsenal so I do not expect that to change for his remaining year(s) at Arsenal.

Now that the World cup is over and done with, transfer speculation is likely to increase as the days go on. If we are to believe much of what we read then, Manuel Almunia is set to join Jose Reyes in Madrid whilst Mark Schwarzer will take over the number one shirt at Arsenal. After listening to Harry, Joe Cole is set to have talks with Arsene, even though I am sure Arsene said recently that he was not after another offensive player.

With Barnet coming up on Saturday, it really feels like proper football is back. I cannot tell you how excited I am.

Back tomorrow.
