Barnet here I come, Schwarzer, Cole & Barca new low

The Joe Cole rumours continue with the favourites pendulum swinging between Arsenal and Tottenham on an almost hourly basis. Arsenal have kept the usual silence whilst Arry Redknapp cannot wait to tell everyone how much he wants Joe and that he tucked him into bed at night whilst at West Ham

I purchased my Barnet ticket last night and it felt good. It certainly feels more like the beginning of the new season as apposed to the end of the last season. I haven’t been to Underhill in a long while, in fact I am pretty sure it was the season that Gilies Grimandi signed for the club, unless that was at Leyton Orient. My memory is not what it used to be, I remember Grimandi pinging long passes around the pitch from the back which left me thinking that he could be our Frank Lebouf. He may not have turned out exactly like that but it is always exciting to get first impressions of players. So hopefully I will get the chance to see Laurent Koscielny and Marouane Chamakh from close quarters.

I am expecting a mixed bag on Saturday. Young players who Arsene wants to watch alongside some senior members. Players such as Craig Eastmond will interest the manager. Players who are too good to be in the reserves but yet not experienced enough to play regularly enough for the first team. The slate is pretty much wiped clean during pre season and it is a chance for every single squad member to show le boss what they can do.

While I wait until my tickets reach me in the post, I am hoping that Arsene can tie up a transfer or two before the new shirt is shown off at 3pm on Saturday, that isn’t to say that said player(s) would play a part in the game, that would depend on factors such as post world cup rest, not enough training or protecting a niggle but we wait and see, pretty much like we have been doing since the end of last season I guess.

The Mark Schwarzer rumours have resurfaced again. They have resurfaced because Sky Sports ‘understands’ that Schwarzer is keen on a move to Arsenal. I am not quite sure what they actually understand who how they came about understanding because they sort of left that part out of their article.

Arsenal Vision understands that it is pretty obvious that a player would be keen to move from Fulham to Arsenal to play first team football. Apparently the whole Arsenal medical rumour was tosh which once again proves that nothing can be believed until an official announcement is made.

With all the talk of playing in central midfield and wanting to feel loved etc I cannot imagine him getting all he wants at Arsenal, certainly not the central position that he would crave, well at least I shouldn’t think so. Cesc is the chief creative playmaker, Alex Song is the protector of the back four and the third member of the midfield must have the ability to help out at both ends of the pitch, especially defensively. Abou Diaby’s defensive work is often hugely under appreciated and this is why we usually only see Diaby or Denilson play as the third midfielder because both contribute more defensively compared to talented creative talents such as Nasri or Rosicky. For Cole to become a Gooner then firstly Arsene will have to be interested in the player and secondly he will have to sell him the role of the creative wide player and even in that position would Joe Cole get into the team on a regular basis ahead of the players we already have at the club?

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cole sign for Tottenham Hotspurs in the coming weeks.

The main story of the day is that of Cesc Fabregas and Barcelona but as it is the typical load of Barcelona classless behaviour, it deserves to be pushed down to the bottom of the pile.

It was disgusting watching Puyol and Pique acting in that way. Can you imagine Arsenal players doing that? Can you imagine Arsenal players being instructed to bang on about a player joining us who was under contract elsewhere? They have been appalling the whole time during this summer but that act was just too much.

The only thing we can do is continue to keep our stance on the player and treat these petty displays like water of a ducks back, although I would rather smash Xavi, Puyol and Pique in the face.

Whatever these idiots do, it is going to be irrelevant. That sign that is fixed to Cesc’s neck still reads.

NOT FOR SALE

Talking about DNA or about how much he wants to come home or even sticking a Barcelona kit over the head of the player is not going to change that. If Barcelona really want Cesc then come with an offer that Arsenal just cannot refuse. If you do not or cannot do that then F**K RIGHT OFF BARCELONA!

Back tomorrow.
