New boy looks like a cold Squiller & Dealing with the inevitable

The first 5 pictures are there just to make you feel relaxed and then the last four look like a horror movie. He looks like a cold blooded Squiller. Eyes widened, face as stern as stone

Ok, I am feeling much more dead than any other normal day, but less dead than yesterday and I suppose that is a good thing isn’t it? I am still struggling with this virus thing but it will not let it stop me from my Arsenal obsession. No siree!

As I am sure you are fully aware, Mr Squilly has found his way onto the Arsenal official website and with that we have a collection of new boy quotes to go with that.

Wenger said:

“He is a real defender and is good in the one against one, good in the air, and can score goals on set-pieces as well. I believe he will be suited to the English game.”

It sounds as if he is one of those who lives for defending and that is most welcomed. As much as I loved the likes of Kolo Toure and Lauren in the past, they were converted midfield players who perhaps didn’t always think to defend first. It sounds like Squillaci is a real hard natural defender who puts his body on the line, along with Vermaelen and Koscielny I really feel that those players can tighten up our defence.

I was flicking through the Squillaci pictures, wearing the new shirt and I had to change the page. He looks blinking frightening. The first 5 pictures are there just to make you feel relaxed and then the last four look like a horror movie. He looks like a cold blooded Squiller. Eyes widened, face as stern as stone.

I thought the Verminator looked tough when he signed last season but nothing compares to ‘the Squiller’

I am looking forward to him playing now and hope that his defending is as frightening as his stare. Good frightening though, not Silvestre frightening, that is something different altogether. It is hard to imagine him being involved in the squad tomorrow when he has only had one training session with his team mates.

It will be interesting to know where Johan Djourou fits into all of this. Arsene will surely have a pecking order in his mind as to where all these players fit in when they are all sharp and ready. Vermaelen is likely to be top with the rest fighting it out to partner him.

As the weeks go by and more and more competitions open their doors then I am sure all four center backs will get their chance to show what they can do. At the same time, the boss will want a partnership to form to set a stable base for the rest of the team.

Koscielny is likely to a chance to stake his claim tomorrow against the thugs from Lancashire.

A little while ago, I was subjected to the usual shite on Sky Sports. Did anyone watch Jamie Redknapp’s new weekend preview on Sky Sports News? Well they obviously played up the whole Blackburn should be allowed to get away with fouling Arsenal players because it gives them an advantage totally ignoring the fact that David Dunn clearly fouled Sol Campbell on the first goal last season. It got me quite annoyed to be honest. I should have known it was coming though.

You can bet your bottom dollar that we will have plenty more where that came from tomorrow, I wonder what we have up our sleeve to counter it though.

It is going to have to be a case of winning that first ball. Players like Chamakh, Vermaelen, Koscielny are going to have to get to crosses first and Almunia has to be able to get fists to high balls even if it means jumping through or over the likes of Christopher Samba in the process. Preferably through him, which I suppose is not as easy as it seems.

The idea of losing to Blackburn and their primitive football doesn’t bear thinking about.

Sam Allardyce has spoken about how the these rude foreigners will not go for a drink with the English gentlemen after games and how disrespectful it is.

Allardyce said:

“He’s (Wenger) never been the type of man to do that and neither have most foreign coaches that have been here. Rafa Benitez was the same and Carlo Ancelotti never came into my office last year. British coaches see it as an unwritten rule that no matter what they pop in and see the manager after the game. It has never been the case with Arsene but that does not particularly worry me. What worries me is making sure that we must not let them beat us.

“We must not let them use their skills and that is a big concern to us because they are one of the top teams in the country. For many years we have pitted our wits against each other and when you’ve had some success over that time then you obviously remember how you did it.”

Why exactly would Wenger want to share a drink with that cretin? What is he supposed to talk about? Gum chewing? Getting stuck in? I don’t think so. I would imagine that Arsene has a little more class than that.

ok, I am off to write the match preview. What to do, what to do? I have no idea how to fit in all our players. I wonder what Arsene will do?

You can give me a helping hand by writing your own team for tomorrow in the comments section.

Back tomorrow.
