I am not sure if that run will come unless injuries rear their ugly head. With Arshavin playing 90+ minutes for Russia, perhaps our number 7 will get his chance from the beginning

Well it looks like a case of so far so good on the injury front. I am still very much keeping my fingers and toes crossed before Arsene is sat in front of a microphone and television screen to tell us all the news.

The England vs France game was very interesting and very enjoyable I thought. Or I could put it another way, The French were very enjoyable and he England team were erm.. the England team.

Laurent Blanc created a technical attacking team at Bordeaux that played attractive, combination football and now he is reproducing that with the National team. Barry, Henderson and Gerrard couldn’t get close to Nasri, Gourcuff and Malouda for the whole game. It doesn’t matter what team and what personnel England seem to put out on the pitch, the result always seems to be the same in terms of performance. No fluidity, no ideas, no plan. Theo Walcott was got given the ball, he was not played into space on the right to use his strengths. Kieran Gibbs had a decent game at left back, it was his first game in quite a while and his first start for England so we can be pretty happy with his showing.

Samir Nasri carried over his club form to the National side without any fuss. He played in the center and played very well. He was one of the best players on the pitch and I find it very exciting to know that we have such a talented player in our squad at only 23 years old. He will become one of the best players for both club and country and many years to come.

And to think that people still question why Wenger has often bought French over British based players in the past.

Robin Van Persie came through 45 minutes without any hint of an injury (so far) so that is very good. He needs the minutes and hopefully he has left all his rust with his country and can now return to Arsenal fresh and sharp. I wonder if he will start in the North London derby on Saturday?

Marouane Chamakh played for Morocco and scored their goal by blocking a goalkeepers clearance in a 1-1 draw with Northern Ireland. Typical Chamakh, chasing down a lost cause and getting his just rewards.

Cesc and his Spanish buddies were crushed 4-0 by Portugal, I thought that it was a weakened Spanish team when I saw the result but soon heard that 10 of the 11 started at the world cup. That was a bit of a shock.

Wenger will now have to get all the players back and assess them before mentally selecting his side for the Tottenham game. Tomas Rosicky came off at half time for the Czech Republic so I hope he gets a start on Saturday. I liked his honest comments a few days ago about wanting to start the big games but needing to score more goals. I would also like to see Rosicky playing in the big games, as with Denilson in the side, he helps our overall passing game and he adds more steel to the side. The goals and assists or lack of would come if he had a run of games in the starting line up, the problem is he doesn’t get that run of games in the team because of Arshavin and Walcott.

I am not sure if that run will come unless injuries rear their ugly head. With Arshavin playing 90+ minutes for Russia, perhaps our number 7 will get his chance from the beginning.

Speaking of number 7’s. It looks as if Robert Pires is on the verge of joining Aston Villa which has left me in two minds. I am happy that he has found himself another club at a decent level to play his football and we as Gooners can keep an eye on his displays from close quarters but at the same time I kind of like the idea of Pires only playing for Arsenal in English football. It will be interesting to see what happens when we play against Villa.

Before I go, I just want to point you in the direction of a Your Vision article called Defenders of the turf. An interesting article about the strengths of our central defensive options.

Apologies for the varied posts in recent weeks, I am finding it more and more difficult to fit in everything that life throws at you as well as finding time to write.

I love writing about Arsenal and have for the most part enjoyed doing so on Arsenal Vision but I am not quite sure how long I will continue to do so.

I will have a good think about things over the next few weeks and see where I go from there. Many great Gooners have contributed to the site both in the comments, Your Vision sections and direct mail and I want to thank all who have read my rambling.

I will be back again tomorrow though, have yourself a great day.

Back again tomorrow.
