Not much in the way of news going around today so I shall keep this pretty Arshavin and sweet.

I finally got round to listening to Arsene Wenger’s pre match interview this morning and he confirmed that Johan and Wojciech could make Sunday’s game but he was a little cautious. They along with Bacary Sagna will have to come through some fitness tests before Arsene will decide. I don’t know if that is Arsene keeping cards close to his chest or if they are a genuine concern ahead of the game.

As much as I love Bacary Sagna, I love his no nonsense approach to defending. I also enjoy watching the marauding runs of Emmanuel Eboue at home. Having said that I think a game as big as Liverpool would suit Sagna as we can expect the opposition to venture out of their half more than many of the bus parkers we have faced at the Emirates this season.

With Thomas Vermaelen back in training it looks as if we are almost back to a full strength squad. Who would have thought that? What would the odds have been for the likes of Abou Diaby, Robin Van Persie, Theo Walcott and co being fit and available with only seven games remaining. And no, I don’t believe in jinxing.

Patrick Vieira’s comments to L’Equipe were quite interesting.

Vieira said: “I still have warm feelings for Arsenal, but it’s starting to become frustrating. They play the best football in England, yet they fail to win anything significant.

“I really enjoy watching them, but they lack the physicality to impose themselves. Arsenal don’t have the killer attitude that a team like Manchester United have.

“[Tony] Adams, [Martin] Keown, [Nigel] Winterburn and [Ray] Parlour weren’t as good with the ball as the current players, but they put their head where others won’t even put feet.”

physicality to impose themselves‘? I do not understand that one to be honest. I love Paddy Vieira but I do not remember that being a problem when he was being dominated by Abou Diaby and Alex Song at the Emirates last season.

This myth that we are physically weak is indeed a myth. Perhaps this could have been a problem in the past but if anyone can remind me of a time when Alex Song was bullied then please let me know.

However when we lose games then the media and journalists are far too quick to turn to that tired cliche but that is not actually the truth. We lost at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season because of defensive mistakes, we gave as good as we got and did not take our chances yet the story was Arsenal were bullied against the powerful Chelsea.

When we smacked them into next week back at the Emirates did we all of a sudden add 6 hulks to our line up? Nope, we worked hard for each other and passed crisper and sharper than they did.

The part I do agree with is this. ‘[Tony] Adams, [Martin] Keown, [Nigel] Winterburn and [Ray] Parlour weren’t as good with the ball as the current players, but they put their head where others won’t even put feet.’

Now that I can agree with. Those players would give everything they had in almost every game they played in where as it hasn’t always been the case with the current crop of players apart from a select few.

After having been told for long periods that we miss a winning mentality, it would be interesting to know what it meant if we actually clicked into form and won the league. A team without a winning mentality winning the title. It gets all very confusing.

Anyway, that is enough for today.

Back tomorrow.
