The pub sang ‘were gonna score in a minute’ I couldn’t sing that, my skepticism didn’t let me.
What a wonderful day, It will surely be a day that will stick with me forever. This is the reason why we all watch Arsenal through thick and thin. Sometimes you have go with the lows of losing to Sheffield United away with a terrible performance and other times you have cherish these moments.
For me it wasn’t even just the result. It will a lovely hot day and I was meeting three of my mates to watch the match in a pub and we practically got there at 1.30pm and was told that police and cracking down on them and they are not showing the game. Fuming! How the hell are we going to find somewhere now? Luckily we got a tip off that a pub 10 minutes away had the game on. We frantically hurried to the other pub and missed the first 5 minutes. Fantastic we can watch the game but it was heaving! There was no space to move. Who cares, we made it.
I forgot to tell my other mate who was late that we had moved to another pub. And he phoned me asking why the hell aren’t you here? There is loads of space and the game is on. Anyway he came to meet us just in time to see Gareth Bale bend in a shot past Alumina’s near post. I thought Almunia shouldn’t have been beaten there to be honest. It is stuff like that, that makes the think that Lehmann (without punching the ball into his net) would gain us more clean sheets and points over the course of a season.
The pub was pretty much split 50/50 with us lovely Gooners and those scummy type people. There is not alot of things I hate more than being in a pub with rival fans and our team losing a game. Especially against those lot. They were singing and chanting a load of crap as they do.
Diaby hit the bar after great work by Hleb. We should be putting these chances away this year I said in frustration. The pub sang ‘were gonna score in a minute’ I couldn’t sing that, my skepticism didn’t let me.
Half time. Shit! Everything is going down hill here. We are losing against Spurs and we are in a packed pub (take note of the ‘in’ part)
Sam Neathey (who was on AV Chat 5) said that we should go back to the original pub because it will bring us good luck and there was loads of room when Tamlin got there. So we trekked back in the sun, complaining about Diaby’s poor finish and Hleb’s wasted chance. We got to the original pub and were faced by some polish dude on the door of this secret special Arsenal room. ‘No, no! No more people allowed in here. There is no space’
That’s just what we bloody need! The infighting began amongst the four of us, who’s bloody idea was this. I’m going home cried Gooner79. It’s half time stop moaning I replied. We walked back to the other pub (again!!!) Sam said that it will be something to laugh at if we turn the game around. I was hoping it would be the case.
When we got there it seemed as if the amount of people had doubled all of a sudden. We couldn’t even get in the bloody door! We stood outside the pub trying to look over peoples head. And just our luck bloody Peter Crouch’s brother was standing in line with the Television.
Anyway, lets make the most of this and will our team back into this game. Tamlin managed to find a side entrance which got us back into the pub with a funky side angle which was better than being outside the pub. The satellite kept pausing and continuing during the second half. Which was quite annoying and scary when it looked like either side were attacking.
I didn’t really see what happened when Adebayor scored the first but it didn’t really matter, the pub roared and the Spurs scum at last shut up. The pausing started becoming more and more frequent and made my nerves even worse.
Adebayor missed a chance he really should have scored from, at this point Adebayor is my worse enemy. I hate him, what is he doing in our team! arrgghh!!
Toure tackled Berbatov when he was certain to score, I love Kolo so much!
Then up stepped Cesc Fabregas to slam in our second for long range and we went mental! Beer flying everywhere. Hugging people who were annoying me 10 seconds earlier, it was great! 2-1 at the lane from being a goal down.
Spurs put us under pressure and Clichy cleared off the line from Berbatov,I didn’t really see it until the replay. Crazy stuff. My heart was thumping out of my chest.
Denilson was played through on the right hand side against Paul Robinson in injury time, surely this was it, we can relax…. No! Robinson saved with his legs! Shit! Its not over yet. A few seconds later Cesc played a pass into Adebayor’s feet and he flicks it to one side and turns and his right boot connects with it and the screen paused! Seriously it felt like 5 minutes. This was just as he connects. When it came back on Robinson was on the floor but we couldn’t see where the ball was until the camera switched to Adebayor who was running off with Arsenal players following him. The pub exploded yet again about 10 seconds after the goal actually went it because of the delay! You couldn’t write this script.
Adebayor, I love you. You are such a great player. I am so grateful to have you at our club. Thats fickle fans for you ey?!
The game ended and we all had massive grins on our faces we decided to celebrate by going to Hampstead heath and have a smoke of erm cigarettes! WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY!
