Robin van Persie has been grabbing all the headlines for Arsenal over the last few weeks while his attacking team mates were taking somewhat of a back seat. Since Walcott’s sparkling performance at Stamford Bridge, people are starting to stand up and pay attention to the England flyer.

Theo Walcott would have been a very strong candidate for the man of the match award was it not for the captains brace in a 2-1 victory against Norwich City on Saturday.

Arsene Wenger has been praising the contribution of his right sided attacker and has explained the reasoning for his improvement.

Wenger said:

“He [Theo] is more efficient in his final ball, in his dribbling, in his passing, his decision making and he is growing as well. People are surprised but he is 22 years old, the expectation level is so high for him, he is already at a level where normally people start, he has already international experience. He is developing very well.”

You have to pinch yourself sometimes when you are reminded that Theo is still only 22 years of age. He has had to listen to a lot of unfair criticism as he has been trying to improve his game. The fact that he has stayed fit this season is a major reason why we are now seeing the best of him. Since becoming a regular first team player at Arsenal, he has suffered from niggles and knocks from his shoulder and other areas. Every time he has returned from injury he has had to start again.

Fingers crossed that he can stay clear of major injuries and his improvement can continue. If that remains the case then I am sure we will have massive player on our hands.
