Dennis Henry / Park / Suarez Scouted

So called King Kenny needs to take some responsibility for his players irresponsible behaviour before a recent game by wearing these stupid t-shirts. Suarez was not accused of a late tackle, he was accused of racism and surely any personal backing could be done in the dressing room. Anyway, this is a subject probably best kept away from an Arsenal blog as luckily we do not have to deal with all this controversy.  Thierry Henry is all over dot com and as you would expect he has said all the things that we fully expect of an Arsenal legend. What exactly is the point of FA Cup weekend without Arsenal playing this weekend? We might as well change the name football to televisionball such is the impact of the broadcast media on our sport.

Liverpool kicked off the cup last night and continue to kick racism back into football. It is of course unfair to blame the whole football club due to the actions of one supporter but the fact that this guy was wearing that Suarez t-shirt just says it all.

He expects to have a bit part role and is there to support the current players rather than be the main man which was very much expected.

He has spoken about having to change his game and compared himself to Dennis Bergkamp which is something I remember him saying back when he was a supreme athlete. He has always had that side of his game and I remember some wonderful assists during his time at Arsenal. One ball through to Ljungberg when he stopped dead in his tracks and slipped a ball through still retaining his passing pose as Ljungberg scored was incredible. I cannot remember the game and if any of you can then that is 5 points to you.

He has always had the ability to play the role that Dennis Bergkamp played so well at his time at Arsenal but his blistering pace and finishing meant that the only place to really play Henry was as the central goal scorer, the same could be said of Robin van Persie. Remember in 2009/10 when Gooners said that he shouldn’t and couldn’t play as a center forward?  I would say that he is doing a decent enough job in that role after all.

So Thierry will be on the bench for the Leeds United game but it will be interesting to see what Arsene does with Park. It is quite amazing that all the way until January so far, he is yet to play one minute of Premier League football. Arsene Wenger has watched so many players in training. Not many managers know how to squeeze the best out of a player than Arsene Wenger, yet our manager has not given Park a chance.

The thing is, when you see Park you could tick quite a few positive boxes. He has a good touch, has good movement, his link up play is good. He plays with intelligence and judging from what we have seen against Bolton in the Carling cup and indeed for South Korea, he knows exactly where the goal is. Sounds like an Arsene Wenger player to me. From what I have seen, the negative part of his game was that he struggled to get involved in the matches. Quite a big negative I guess, is that the case still? Or is he struggling to complete five yard passes?

I guess we will all know what the future has in store for Park in a few weeks time when Henry is fit. If Park doesn’t get ahead of a 34 year old who is here to help out then I suspect that his future will be elsewhere. Benik Afobe must be kicking himself right now, had he remained fit this season then a door could well have opened up for him. He looked bright when he played in pre season against, funnily enough. Thierry Henry’s New York Red Bulls. He looked impressive on that day and hopefully the lad can kick on when he comes back to full fitness.

Speaking of strikers, we were linked to Argentine attacker Matias Suarez from various tasty sauces. It all started with some apparent reputable dude on Twitter saying that Arsenal have tabled/launched/dropped (delete as appropriate) a bid for the skilful forward. Then it turned out that he wasn’t so reputable after all because we haven’t made a bid as yet but we are just scouting him which really and truly means very little.

I am sure we have a massive list of scouts who scout an even larger list of talented players but I am sure most of the time the scouts come back and write down ‘After watching player x for 37 times I have decided that he is not suitable for a career at Arsenal because he tends to scratch his bum and smell is finger too many times’ or it could be for less likely reasons such as not strong enough physically for the Premier League or has the wrong temperament etc. Just because a player is being scouted, doesn’t mean that he is next through the doors at the Emirates. That said, he looks shit hot!

Like most I have a rather bad habit of jumping straight onto You Tube and checking out said player after any old link to us. I feel a little dirty after having caught up on the latest HD clip compilation of random player only to be told a few days later that the rumour was all made up and we haven’t even heard of the player. Makes me want to have a cold shower.

That is the thing about You Tube, it is just the best bits picked out and you can honestly make almost anyone look good. What other reason did Kenny Daglish spend £35m on Andy Carroll? When I next go for an interview, maybe I should record myself in super slow motion typing some work or clicking the mouse looking really cool. Then I can just send the link to the person interviewing me. How could I fail?

But does anyone remember that clip of Chamakh? The first 5 minutes of it was him missing chances. It was a little weird but hey.

Anyway, I have late dinner cooking. Back Monday, perhaps tomorrow if I can find the time.

’till then.
