Eduardo was quiet for long periods of the match last night but his two finishes were right out of the top draw.

There are only two English teams who could give the team that drew 1-1 against Liverpool at Anfield a game. Those two teams are Manchester United and the Arsenal B side.

This B side would give the first team a good game.

Some Arsenal fans were talking about our squad being weak but infact it is quite the opposite. Sheffield United were destroyed by a second team who didn’t get out of 1st gear. It was the easiest match that I have seen in a long time.

The first was fantastic of course, a lovely swerving strike from outside the box but as Squid Boy said in the Match Review I enjoyed the second goal because Mr Da Silva made the finish look so easy. Adebayor could do with learning from the Crozilian in training.

Bendtner looks like he has another 30% tucked away in his locker. The way he drops deep into the hole and links play reminds me of a certain Dennis Bergkamp. Sometimes his final pass let him down but that will come with games.

I hope we get to face Tottenham again, it would be nice to inflict some more misery on them with our second string side.

Yesterday when I heard Arsene rubbishing the stories that Gilberto had refused to play I assumed that he would slot in at center back and to my amazement I saw him being lined up in central midfield. Would Arsene have really made so many changes to the side to accommodate Gilberto in midfield? I doubt it. Something has gone on behind the Arsenal closed doors. Maybe Gilberto will reveal this once/if he leaves.
I must admit, I was very disappointed to see Diarra playing at right back after his wonderful performance against Newcastle in the last round. Even though the little Frenchman had an excellent match. He clearly is a class act that must find more first team football, even if it is coming off the bench to shore up matches.

Fabianski captain? What is going on there? Gilberto is clearly the captain on that pitch. Is it true that he told Arsene that he didn’t want to be captain at all if he is not the first team captain? Was it Arsene’s decision? Wenger was obviously very coy in the post match interview about this.

Wenger said: “It’s not about how many years you are at the club. Gilberto was the real leader on the pitch, the younger players look up to him. It’s not a problem. He’s still a key person for me.”

It really is a strange one. You would have never anticipated this last season. Gilberto has been fantastic for us and was again last night.

Cesc Fabregas has been talking up his teammate and friend Alexander Hleb.
