Injuries / Pre Villa talk

I personally think that Cesc was being protected for the Aston Villa match and Arsene didn’t want to admit that because we lost the game

Injury speculation is the main topic for Arsenal today.

Cesc Fabregas, Alex Hleb, Gael Clichy and Robin Van Persie are the names on peoples lips. Van Persie can be crossed off the list of possible returns because he is still has not recovered from his injury and is not yet match fit.

Reports suggest that Cesc Fabregas is out for 10 days with a hamstring injury but I think that was just something that a newspaper made up in response to Arsene Wengers post match interview (Sevilla) where the boss stated that Cesc had a hamstring injury.

I personally think that Cesc was being protected for the Aston Villa match and Arsene didn’t want to admit that because we lost the game. Fabregas was running around the pitch before he was replaced. Anyone who has suffered a hamstring strain will know that running around is the last thing you will feel like doing. Well, I hope that’s the case anyway.

Thank god, Alex Hleb’s injury is not as bad as first thought and could feature against Aston Villa, maybe from the bench.

I have a worry though.

When Hleb has been injured before he has not returned the same player.

Maybe this time it will be different as he is now considered a vital player in our team. It normally takes Hleb a few games to find his passing range.

Aston Villa away is always a tricky fixture and has been most of the time during Arsene’s career. We managed to beat them 1-0 at Villa Park last season. This time around they are in very good form, infact they have scored 7 and conceded none in their last two games, so it could well be a difficult game.

It will be a physical game, we will have alot of possession and we will have to break them down. My guess is that they will play 5 in midfield when we are on the ball and they will use pace and width on the counter attack.

Arsene has been talking up the talented Mexican Carlos Vela.

“We scout him every week when he plays,” said the Arsenal manager. “He can apply for a passport in March and normally he will start with us next summer.

“He will straight away be with the first-team and after that it is up to him to get a place in the side.

“I sent him to Spain because he comes from a Mexican culture and it is easier to adapt in Europe. He has what we like here at Arsenal. He is a good passer of the ball and a finisher. He has that intelligent movement with very good technique and great pace.”

I must say I am looking forward to the kid joining us, its just a shame that he is not coming to us in January.

That is enough for now, the match preview will be posted later on.
