Good Morning/afternoon,
I hate the fact that both Hleb and Cesc and missing for the match tomorrow, I would be so confident about the game if they were playing. I am still confident of course because they are shit and we are great, but that is partly why I am a tad skeptical about the game. Normally there are two rules that seem to apply to us.
1) A new manager joins a club and the next game is against Arsenal.
2) Arsenal are in good form and the opposition haven’t won for 17 years, cue upset.
Ok, hopefully this is just my Arsenal nervousness coming through and it should really be routine. Even without our creative magicians.
Here are the results of the last 5 games for Newcastle.
Newcastle 1-4 Portsmouth
Sunderland 1-1 Newcastle
Newcastle 0-3 Liverpool
Blackburn 3-1 Newcastle
They have conceded 7 goals in their last two home matches so we have the potential to score goals.
The last time we played without Hleb and Cesc was against Wigan at home and it wasn’t the best performance but hopefully our 1st half against Villa will give the team confidence.
Our line up against Wigan was:
Sagna Toure Gallas Clichy
Eboue Denilson Diarra Walcott
Rosicky
Adebayor
Swap around Flamini for Denilson and that will be the team tomorrow unless Arsene feels it is necessary to rotate with the games coming thick and fast but hopefully we won’t have much rotation because of our injured players.
Manchester United beat Fulham last night to close the gap a little more. I watched the match and wasn’t overly impressed with what I saw to be honest. If Fulham were a little more confident in themselves then they could have caused them more problems. They passed the ball quite well in the second half and Danny Murphy could have equalised on a couple of occasions.
Apparently we are linked with PSV midfielder Ibrahim Afellay. This is according to the Daily Mail. No quotes or anything like that so it is pitch of salt talk right now. I suppose we are a bit short of central midfielders at the moment. JOKE.
Speculation about outgoings is probably more likely with Wolfsburg being linked with a swoop for Jens Lehmann. The quicker he is out of the club the better for everyone including the mad one himself.
That is about the size of it for now, the Newcastle Preview will be up today or tomorrow. Don’t forget to check out Squid Boy’s Player Review So Far – Goalkeepers & Defence It is a good read. The midfielders will be up tonight so get your butt back here!
