Best Striker Partnership? / Weak Chelsea

I sent a text to a few Arsenal friends of mine asking the question ‘If all our strikers were fit and on form who would you play?

Slightly later than normal blog today tonight. Very busy day and haven’t been able to sit down on my computer until now.

Anyway, the advantage of that is getting some late news.

Just finished watching bits and pieces of the Aston Villa v Manchester United match and it was quite disappointing to be honest. Manchester United looked pretty toothless apart from Ronaldo who himself was below par. Aston Villa could have taken the game to Manchester United a bit more as United were below their usual high level. Villa kept playing the longer pass instead of having the confidence to pass through United. I suppose I am spoilt from watching our football but I get frustrated watching teams hoofing it into channels or over the top through to opposition goalkeepers.

We shall witness another mix and match team tomorrow against a Burnley side not in the greatest of form. Gallas, Cesc, Clichy are rested while Hleb and Adebayor have slight knocks and will not be risked.

Even with the injuries and absentees there will be competition for central midfield. Diarra, Diaby, Denilson and Gilberto will all be fighting for two central spots in the midfield. The African trio will play their last match before jetting off to play for their countries.

The team could look something like..

Lehmann
Sagna Toure Senderos Traore
Eboue Diaby Diarra Rosicky
Bendtner Eduardo

Subs: Fabianski, Denilson, Gilberto, Walcott

I suppose it all depends on what kind of team Arsene wants to play against Tottenham especially as we will be light of three first team players.

Speaking of which, Arsene has been talking about how the ACN will effect Chelsea’s squad more than most.

believe it will be Chelsea who suffers the most, though on the other had they can buy more can anyone else to correct that,” reflected the Arsenal manager.

“But losing Mikel, Essien, Drogba and Kalou, that’s four main players. Nobody loses that many.

“We are just behind Chelsea and Portsmouth also – but I won’t use it as an excuse if we don’t win the title because I have known who we will lose since the start of the season

Its funny that even though Chelsea have spent £966,737,838,883,292,388 on first team players since Roman whatsit turned up their squad is now looking lightweight. I guess they will have to dip back into the transfer market and buy some more overpriced players. It is a shame we don’t operate that way. (yes, it is sarcasm)

Robin Van Persie is on his way back to the first team (again) and could well be in contention against Birmingham next Saturday. I sent a text to a few Arsenal friends of mine asking the question ‘If all our strikers were fit and on form who would you play? Not just in terms of ability but as a partnership’ I received a few interesting combinations back and I wondered what our Gooners think. I cannot see Van Persie and Eduardo making a good partnership but I can see Adebayor and Eduardo linking pretty well. Van Persie is obviously the most talented of the lot. Leave your pair in the comments below.
