I think Alex Ferguson must be getting jealous of Arsene’s relationships with his former players who he wanted eternal love from
Arsene Wenger must think it is valentines day with all the attention he is getting today. Steve Bruce has spoken about the hand that Arsene had to play in bringing Honduras international Winston Palacios.
“I was looking for a midfield player and Arsene Wenger called me.
“He had him on trial at Arsenal but though he said he already had eight midfielders, he reckoned this boy really had something.”
That was a very kind gesture by Arsene wasn’t it? It seems like Steve Bruce and Arsene Wenger do have a good relationship as the two clubs have done alot of business over the last few years. Bendtner was loaned to them while they purchased Seb Larsson and Fabrice Muamba from us. I think Alex Ferguson must be getting jealous of Arsene’s relationships with his former players who he wanted eternal love from, Bruce and Beckham to name a few. It is rumoured that this is the reason for the United poor performance on the weekend. ok, I am waffling a little and going off track so back to reality.
Stuart Pearce has admitted that Arsene Wenger knows what he is doing in regards to young Theo Walcott.
“I think the main driver they need is to get in there and play first team football as much as they possibly can. “That applies to anybody but there’s one man who will know what’s best for Theo and that’s Arsene.
When we get our full squad back and fit then I don’t think it will do the lad any harm to get back to playing reserve football to take the pressure off of him as being in the spot light is obviously doing damage to his confidence at the moment. I suppose it could also work the other way if he is made to take a backwards step. Theo Walcott has alot of good qualities that will see him make a top level player in the future. Very quick, good finisher and is an intelligent boy. It is clear that he isn’t blessed with what you call total natural ability. The fact that he started playing football at around 10 years old is probably the reason for that.
I have seen him made a massive difference from the bench on more than one occasion and that is enough to prove to me that he will progress into a fine Arsenal player. I think Theo should take lessons from Cesc Fabregas. I don’t mean just by being a stupidly good player at such a young age but I mean by his approach to being a young player. I was at Highbury for his debut in the Carling cup. I was hearing alot of positive noises from the senior players at the time and I was looking forward to seeing what this kid had. I remember watching him play very simple passes, not making any mistakes not trying to be over elaborate just making safe choices and I think Theo Walcott should be doing more of that.
Arsene Wenger has told Theo to be more aggressive on the pitch but sometimes I feel like Theo has taken that very literally. He attempts to beat players whenever he is in possession and most of the time it is the wrong option.
Lets hope he can play for the under 21’s and gain a little self belief.
As you all know it is the dreaded International friendies coming up and we have to pray that we do not pick up any injuries to our players as we are ‘a little bit short’ at the moment.
England take on Big Phil Senderos’ Switzerland and the improved defender is looking forward to the clash
“I know all about Wembley and a victory there on Capello’s first game would go down in the history of Swiss football.
Although I am not a fan of International football as alot of Gooners aren’t these days, I am looking forward to seeing what kind of changes Fabio Capello makes to the side.
Back on the subject of injuries, it is reported that young AC Milan sensation Pato could miss the Champions League clash with Arsene with an ankle problem. I have to confess that I have not seen the lad play yet but he is rated very highly by alot of people and is seen as the new big Brazilian superstar. I bet Arsene knew of him when he was 4 but Arsene looked at his body structure and realised that he would break down just before the big match and never be the same player ever again. Only Mr Wenger!
I was looking on Soccerbase.com for the Manchester United fixtures and I noticed that they have a pretty piss poor run in of away matches apart from Chelsea away which I found a little concerning.
Arsene did say that we may need another 10 wins from 13 games which sounds right to me having seen that. It is going to be tough but the team look in good shape so as long as we don’t get anymore injuries then it can well be done.
