Arsenal have not won a trophy for over 2 years but it was the “transformation period”, didn’t you know? 😉

This season the boys from North London have been nothing short of sensational, having lost just one game in the Premier League all season.

But not only have the boys been winning games but we’ve finally mixed style with substance. We’ve had a handful of breathtaking victories where we tore apart teams with 3 or 4 goals. And then on the flipside we’ve had a handful of sturdy victories where we’ve grinded out wins when we’ve needed to.

This new found style of play is all down to 3 words; Adebayor, Flamini, Sagna.

Adebayor has stepped up this season and we have found a player that has the ability to score from anywhere, on the ground, from range and in the air.

Flamini has been a revelation this season. His tireless work means that he is all over the pitch snapping at opponents heals and taking a great deal of defensive responsiblity off Super Tom, Hleb and Cesc. He is the key to unlock their creativity. An unsung hero.

And last but certainly not least Wenger acquired Bacary Sagna for about £6M in the Summer. When I heard of this transfer I was distraught. I thought “hold on a sec Arsene, we’ve got Eboue, Hoyte and Gilbert who can play in there at RB, why would we need anyone else? Sort your life out mate”. But how wrong I was. Eboue’s conversion to RM has been slow but progressive and Sagna’s introduction at the back has led to us leaking far less goals. He really is a superb player and is having a fantastic first season.

So can we win the title?

In my honest opinion, I don’t think we’ll win it. I hope we will but deep down I don’t think we will. I can see us dropping points against an Everton or a Villa at home and paying for it. We also have to go to Old Trafford where United are strong and up for it.

Whenever we’ve dropped points this season and United have gone back top I’ve thought “ah well that’s the title race over” only for our lads to pull them back again the following week. It’s been a brilliant season so far with the top 2 changing weekly.

If we do win it then I’ll be delighted as before the season I would of never expected that come February we’d be top. I thought we’d be 3rd/4th and a good 10 points off the top atleast but I’ve been pleasantly suprised this season and that’s why come May whether we win the title or lose the title I’ll be proud that we were up there fighting for it.

I Still can’t believe we had a 6-point gap and a game in hand on United before the Newcastle/’borough games in November and now we’re just 2 points ahead. Can’t help but feel we blew it big time. 🙁

Come on you Gunners!
