Barazite looks ready to be a Carling cup player next season, he drops off into that Bergkamp, Van Persie… I may as well just call it the Dutch position
Happy Friday to you,
There isn’t a massive amount of Arsenal news doing the rounds today, there are a few quotes and comments about the AC Milan match from a few different Arsenal players.
Alex Hleb has been talking up our chances in Milan.
“We want to win and go through to the next round. Everybody was angry afterwards because we had a lot of chances.
“We played well, but we need to score. I think we can do this in Milan.
It will be interesting to see how we approach the game over there. Will we take the game to them from the off as we usually do and try and play our normal game or will we look to defend as a team first and counter attack against them. We need a goal so I expect us to take the game to them from the start. I just hope we have enough support for Adebayor.
Hopefully the players can forget about the match and the return match for the time being and transfer all their eggs into the Birmingham City basket. I have a feeling that the game will be a tight affair and will need something brilliant from Cesc, Hleb or Adebayor to win the game.
I expect that Arsene must be considering making a few changes around the pitch but the squad currently does not give him many options right now. Eduardo has played alot of football of late so maybe he will be rotated with Walcott or Bendtner. The Crozilian did not look as sharp as he has done lately against Milan and he is the type of player we need in the return leg. Someone who can turn 4-4-2 into 4-5-1 and someone who has the capabilities of taking 1 of very few chances.
Denilson is available again after injury but resting Cesc or Flamini maybe a risk too high in this stage of the season.
The mighty Jens Lehmann has been talking himself up for once.
The mad one said: “When I’m under pressure in big games, you can rely on me.
“I’ve played four or five games in a row, we will see how it goes on. With a goalless result, a keeper has not done much wrong. In my case, I have to think from game to game. A draw against AC Milan was a little disappointing but we did not concede.”
Can you throw Almunia back into the team after missing all the last few matches? Jens Lehmann has played his way back into form and is currently in the zone of playing back to back matches. We all know what Senderos, Gilberto etc are like after not playing regular football. I am not sure if we can risk that with Almunia unless it is at home against a team that will not cause much threat.
I was watching the Arsenal reserves which contained alot of young players take on a very strong Reading reserve team that contained the likes of Lita, Rosenior, De la Cruz , Long etc and I was impressed with a few of the lads out there. Barazite looks ready to be a Carling cup player next season, he drops off into that Bergkamp, Van Persie… I may as well just call it the Dutch position. He has very good feet and awareness of players around him.
Jack Wiltshire looks like a nippy player with quick feet who isn’t afraid to attempt to beat players. I didn’t know that he was a wide man and looks very good on the left handside.
Nordtveit also looks very composed on the ball for a central defender and made some very good last ditch tackles. I could name alot more but it would take too long. It does look pretty rosy for us in the future. These players are all improving and getting more experience. We will see who Arsene likes when the Carling Cup comes back around again.
There is speculation about Arsene staying until 2016 which would be the best possible news for the club but I will not get carried away with anything like that until something official was to come out of the club.
It brings me back to the summer when certain supporters (on certain forums) were saying that he should leave the club because he will not spend money on players. I really hope you look at yourselves in the mirror ashamed of yourselves. The man should not be doubted again.
All we need is for the Flamster to sign a new deal and everything will be all jiggy.
Have a great day, I shall do my very best to do the same.
Until tomorrow.
