Fabregas had a glorious chance to pull level on the 45 minute mark when Walcott’s wonderful wing play and cut back to Adebayor who spotted the Spaniard lurking on his right, played the ball to him but his curling effort was all terribly wrong

An equaliser in the last few seconds to avoid defeat and place your team back into 1st place after being pushed down to 2nd during 90 minutes should be a positive thing and should at least draw out a cheer from a hardcore Arsenal fan but I couldn’t even muster a noise from my mouth.
I stared at the screen looking blanked faced as Bendtner raced off with arms raised.
This is the stage of the season where I expect or rather hope for top performances from the players as they know this is the so called squeaky bum time.
It is hard to know what the problem is, Arsene said it is a physical problem but we cannot take everything that Arsene says to the media as face value. It could be a confidence thing or maybe even a pressure thing either way Arsene would never come out and say that especially at this stage of the season.
Aston Villa were the better team in the first half and limited Arsenal to a few half chances. The Arsenal team of October 2007 would have been 2-0 at half time. Arsenal of March 2008 looked jaded and unfluent.
Our last win was against Blackburn on the 11th February which seems such a long time ago.
Walcott was moved upfront alongside Adebayor after his brace against Aston Villa’s rivals Birmingham and looked sharp early on. Theo had the best chance early on when he spun past Curtis Davis and fired a low shot which Carson palmed around the post.
Aston Villa showed that you can play against Arsenal without having to resort to foul play and negative tactics.
Agbonlahor raced through on 13 minutes, he wanted to get the ball onto his right and place past Almunia but Gallas slid in and won the ball.
Agbonlahor looks like a quality young player full of ability and blistering pace. Arsene Wenger likes the looks of the young Englishman but would not pay the amounts that Aston Villa would require.
Senderos slipped when about to strike on his left side following a Cesc Fabregas corner. Perhaps it might have been a different story had the ball of been coming across onto his right foot.
On 27 minute Agbonlahor once again was breaking through the inside left channel, he took on Gallas and swung a left foot cross into the box which hit Senderos and rolled over the line.
Reo-Coker and Davies not to long after went off injured but it didn’t much of a difference to Villa.
Just before half time Maloney had a 20 yard strike clip the cross bar via Almunia’s finger tips.
Fabregas had a glorious chance to pull level on the 45 minute mark when Walcott’s wonderful wing play and cut back to Adebayor who spotted the Spaniard lurking on his right, played the ball to him but his curling effort was all terribly wrong.
Cesc Fabregas is still not the same player that he was before his injury midway through the season. Hleb has been injured, come back in and worked his way back to form, Flamini has done the same but Cesc is still stuck in 6-7 out of 10.
Walcott and Young both had shots saved within a couple minutes of eachother.
Bendtner came on for Diaby on 59 minutes with Hleb moving across to the left and Bendtner joining Adebayor upfront with Walcott on the right.
Harewood came on for Shuan Maloney and caused Arsenal many problems on the break.
On 76 minutes it was Harewood who struck a fierce drive which Almunia saved.
It has gone slightly wrong for Adebayor since his hair cut. Infact he hasn’t scored a goal since the Blackburn victory.
We managed to get the equaliser on 94 minutes. Clichy’s cross was headed back into the box to Bendtner to stab home from 4 yards out.
If anything it will be good for home confidence, we are unbeaten at home this season and it will continue for a while longer.
2 points from the last two games against Birmingham and Aston Villa is not Champions form and it was made to feel alot worse when Manchester United beat Fulham 3-0 away and having the belief to rest both Rooney and Ronaldo ahead of the Champions League tie.
AC Milan on Tuesday will be vital to the rest of the season. We are looking quite shaky at the moment, and Arsene will want a massive performance to prevent season collapse. Is it time to unleash Van Persie?
