Wonderful last 30 minutes, why not from 1st?

Our football was quick and direct, we knew we had to score 3 goals in half hour so we forgot about the unnecessary side ways passing for the sake of it

Arsenal played twice as well with 10 men in the last 30 minutes than they have done in the last 5 league games with 11 men. I have banged on about urgency and tempo many times on this site so I will not go into detail about it again but get yourself a video of the game and watch the way we play in the early part of the game compared to the end.

Arsene is usually very predictable with his substitutions and I tend to think that he usually leaves it far to late for his subs to make a real impact in the game. His way of thinking is that it takes only a couple of seconds to score a goal but I feel that it takes players 20-30 minutes to get into a game.

Being 2-0 down forced Arsene to be more brave than normal. On 60 minutes Theo Walcott and Adebayor replaced Senderos and Bendtner. We went to a back 3 with Gallas playing as a lone central defender.

Theo Walcott was direct and penetrating. What impressed me the most about him was his awareness of his teammates. I watched him alot last season and shook my head every time he gave up possession by running into defenders and falling over. Yesterday he was bringing the ball under control and finding his teammates. One Van Persie chance (one of many) was all down to Walcott. The way he took on Taylor who had a teammate alongside him to double up on Theo was fantastic because we do not have that in the squad apart from perhaps Hleb who I thought was immense in the final half hour.

Our football was quick and direct, we knew we had to score 3 goals in half hour so we forgot about the unnecessary side ways passing for the sake of it. Van Persie, Adebayor, Cesc, Walcott were all interchanging at speed and it tore Bolton to shreds.

Why oh why can’t we start matches in this way? We are we obsessed about conserving energy? I would rather we played at our maximum and burnt out than crap half hearted performances with loads of energy.

I need to look at the stats but our 1st half goals are pretty low. The reason for our high number of last minute goals is not down to fitness or anything like that. It is down to not doing enough to win the game in the first 70 minutes of the game.

I really hope and pray that Arsene watches that last 30 minutes and shows the players what is needed from the 1st minute.
