Arsene Wenger would have drummed into the players before the kick off to keep it tight at the back and do not concede a sloppy goal. Arsene had a choice to make at the back, would he revert Toure back to center back alongside Gallas to counteract Torres’ pace? I had a feeling that he would keep it the same as against Bolton. Wenger likes continuity.

Eboue came back into the side in place of Diaby and played on the right in front of Toure while Hleb switched back to the left.

Mascherano came back into the side for Liverpool infront of the Liverpool defence.

The early stages of the game were fairly cagey with both teams sussing eachother out. The first clear cut chance of the match fell to Robin Van Persie. Flamini played a fabulous Cesc like pass into the Dutchman’s path but he could not keep it down.

A minute later Van Persie had another shot but it was saved by Reina after a great move. Van Persie did not catch the shot right and has not hit them correctly since he came back against Wigan. Arsene Wenger has been hoping that Van Persie could have clicked into gear by now but in truth he hasn’t.

Arsenal’s first goal in the first half for a long while. That is a massive problem in my opinion. It cannot be coincidence that we do not score goals early in matches. It needs to be fixed. Liverpool’s defending was shambolic. If that is what Zonal marking brings then we can leave zonal marking well alone.

At this point, Arsenal needed to keep tight and keep playing football but it didn’t happen. Gerrard won a 50/50 against Flamini received a pass from Torres and drove into the box. Toure should have done better but ended up turning his back on Gerrard. He fired in a left foot cross that was turned in by Dirk Kuyt.

Emmanuel Eboue was having an awful first half and was not doing anything offensively and defensively. Alot of fans have slagged him off and I have tried to stay positive with him but at the moment he just does not offer the side enough quality.

When you think of the contribution made from Pires, Ljungberg, Overmars, Wiltord and Reyes during our championship winning seasons it makes you wonder if Eboue will ever be good enough in that position.

Where the hell is Rosicky? His quality cannot be underestimated but what use is a player, or players *ahem* Van Persie *ahem* who cannot play 3 or 4 matches in a row. It is no use.

Van Persie was taken off at halftime with yet another injury, a thigh injury apparently. It is beyond worrying how a player of 24 years old can have so many injuries.

Theo Walcott came on and done some good things as well as giving the ball away on a few occasions. The reason why Walcott does not start that many games is because when the game is not stretched Theo cannot use his pace. His link up play is still way short of being consistent enough for a whole season.

I would like to see Walcott upfront where he can play on the shoulder of defenders and concentrate on scoring goals instead of linking up the play.

His 25 yard strike on 55 minutes reminded us of what he could do as a forward player.

I cannot understand how the referee did not see the pull back by Kuyt in the second half, he was 5 yards away. 99% of the worlds population would have given that as a penalty. How can we just accept that? Alot of decisions can be interpreted in different ways but how can this one be? I am still furious with the decision. The referee had a good game apart from that. But what a mistake to make.

William Gallas and Javier Mascherano were the best players on the pitch last night. Torres was kept very quiet by Gallas and Mascherano flew infront of so many shots and mopped up very well for Liverpool.

We will not create as many chances at Anfield, not only this but Torres and Gerrard will have more influence than they did last night.

Can we keep a clean sheet without Sagna at Anfield? On current form I would say no. Can we score at least 2 goals at Anfield on current form? I’ll let you make your judgement.

We know we can keep the ball at places like Anfield but what can we do with it? It will be interesting.

Until tomorrow.
