Our season could well fall away on Tuesday

I am not feeling very positive about the remainder of our campaign. Can we win at Anfield? Of course we can, we are a great team on our day, but when last was it our day? We look short on confidence and conviction

I must admit, I am slightly relived that I can stop thinking about the title race. We have been out of it after our run or draws but mathematical we have always still been in it.

Yesterday confirmed that our squad players are either not good enough at the moment or will never been good enough for long spells in the Arsenal first team.

Our first half performance was pretty awful, we couldn’t string three passes together. Bendtner was playing on his own upfront with a midfield 5 behind him who rarely went beyond him. Eboue did not add anything offensively to the side and I am seriously doubting that he can make that position his own without any goals, hardly any assists and a lack of composure. I think he could do a job as a backup right back but that is as far as it goes.

Theo Walcott frustrated yet again yesterday. As he kept running into Liverpool defenders instead of passing the ball earlier. When the game stretched Theo can tear apart teams but when teams are organised then Theo rarely makes a positive impact.

Liverpool made a massive eight changes and looked a better side than the Arsenal side that made half those changes. Liverpool looked more fluid and passed the ball better than the best passing team in the league.

Liverpool’s team showed the gulf in squad depth.

Crouch was very good, and every ball that went to him stuck and he had the vision to find his teammates.

I am not going to go into the in’s and out’s of the game, you can read Squid Boy’s match review HERE

So, next up Anfield. Can we expect yet another 1-1 draw? I doubt it. Arsenal are not in great shape right now. Cesc and Flamini have run themselves into the ground. Liverpool will be confident after the previous 2 games away from home without defeat.

I am not feeling very positive about the remainder of our campaign. Can we win at Anfield? Of course we can, we are a great team on our day, but when last was it our day? We look short on confidence and conviction.

Our season could well fall away on Tuesday

Until tomorrow.
