Issue number 2. ok, I haven’t seen him alot of times probably a couple times but he doesn’t strike me as the defender who will tower above strikers and organise the back four.
Hello Visioners,
Normally I try to gather all the latest stories, transfers etc before I post a My Vision and that is exactly what I thought when I put up yesterdays one. All of a sudden we had about 4 stories about players linking themselves to us. Madness. I cannot remember a time when we have been linked to so many players in such a short space of time.
I find it hard to believe that most of these are true. I read many Arsenal fans saying stuff like ‘I would like that guy Kompany to join us from Hamburg, he is quick, strong, blah blah and then the next day you see Tribalfootball putting up a story about Arsenal linked to Kompany.
Coincidence?
We read some quotes yesterday from the player.
I have nothing to say,” he said in Hamburger Morgenpost.
“I am sure that I will not say anything about this, I learned in Anderlecht that it is better [to keep quiet] – otherwise I will regret it.”
Sounds interesting doesn’t it? Or does it?
Unless my eyes deceive me, I cannot see any quotes about the interviewer mentioning Arsenal’s name. He could have said something like ‘So Vincent.. do you expect to move to a big club this summer?
Two issues I have with this. firstly would Wenger spend £15 million or there about’s on a defender who hasn’t set foot in the Premier League? I seriously doubt it. Alot of clubs have known about Kompany for a long while now and he has never made the move to a major club. Why is that?
Issue number 2. ok, I haven’t seen him alot of times probably a couple times but he doesn’t strike me as the defender who will tower above strikers and organise the back four. Like Richards, he seems to be in the Toure, Gallas bracket of pace and recovery. We need the Adams, Senderos, Vidic, Pallister type defender.
Putting it bluntly.. its probably a load of bollocks. Pardon my french.
Speaking of French. As you well know we seem to continually linked to Hatem Ben Arfa and it is exciting being linked with a player who can skip past defenders and score goals but it has got me thinking. I expect Hleb to be sold, I cannot imagine Wenger wanting to hold onto a player who wants away from the club. With everyone fit, then Hleb plays on the right. Ben Arfa is a left footed winger. When was the last time Arsene played a left footer on the right wing? He has no problem doing it the other way round. Overmars, Pires, Rosicky to name a few. So maybe he has faith in Walcott. But then we only have Eboue as cover as Rosicky is not the same player on that side. Not that much of an issue? ok, why would Arsene want to have Ben Arfa when he has Vela coming in who is roughly the same age. Both players will need games to get used to English football and develop their talent. ok, what about Vela upfront instead? ok inplace of who? Who gets dropped down the ladder? Adebayor and Van Persie are surely first choice then Eduardo will be fighting for that position when he comes back late into the season. ok, it is all speculation right now so it is slight irreverent so lets wait and see.
Alex Hleb’s Mr 20% has been speaking again about our player.
“Alexander understands perfectly well that he plays for a great team, but the moment has come where he needs to make a choice,” Shpilevski told Russian website www.sports.ru.
“Hleb has been playing in London for three years now and isn’t sure whether in the future he can show the level of talent that he is showing currently.
“I can only confirm that some of the world’s biggest clubs are interested in him.
.”In any case I can say simply that Alexander will not buy out the remaining part of his five-year contract for a fixed sum of his sale.
“Hleb is a gentleman and will not stoop to that level. Everything will be done properly.
“I am sure that the situation surrounding this issue will finally be resolved in the next 10 days.
I take it that Arsene has agreed to sell him by that last line. Which probably has something to do with us buying his replacement. It could well be a case of wait until we have finalised our signing before you can piss off. So after all that doubting the Ben Arfa story I could well change my mind again in the space of a few minutes. It probably explains why we would be able to spend £10-15 million on the ‘creative player’ that Wenger is looking at. I am sure Arsene will make a profit on the ‘exchange’. I am feeling a bit impatient now.
Kolo’s brother Yaya from Barcelona has been linked to the club
“I am aware of the interest from the Premier League,” he told Skysports.
“But I can’t say anything yet – however it would be great to play in a big team with my brother, it would be fantastic but you never know.”
So, there is another ‘can’t say anything yet’ situation. I cannot imagine Arsene spending the amount of money that would be required to bring in Yaya Toure when he could have had him at the club years ago.
Another player from the Ivory Coast has linked himself to the club. Gervinho who sounds like a Brazilan superstar of the 70’s, plays for Le Mans.
“To play for Arsenal would be fantastic,” he said.
“Arsene Wenger is the best coach in the world, however I am fine in Le Mans and I am learning my football here.
“I am getting help from everyone and I am happy here and at the moment I still need to learn a lot – but things can change very quickly.”
I can only assume that Arsene goes through his transfer targets and speaks to all of them incase the other targets fall through. Drobga said that Gervinho could well be as good as Ronaldo, Messi and Nani. Hmmmm, are you sure guv?
Patrick Vieira has warned Arsenal that they need to put their hands in the their pockets to keep our top stars.
Vieira said: “Seeing Flamini leave and I don’t know what’s going on with Hleb … when players see other players leave like that then of course Cesc and all the other players will ask what Arsenal want to do.
“If Arsenal want to compete with Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool, then they have to keep their best players and if the best players start to leave, then people will question what Arsenal want to do in the future. Flamini is a big loss. If they carry on losing players like that then it will be a worrying time.”
I agree with him. I would much rather we spent less in the transfer market, picking up young quality and spent more on wages to keep them long term because we will always have this problem if we don’t. Hopefully as from next year our financial issue should have eased somewhat due to the sales of the Highbury flats and the stadium debt being partly paid off so we can restructure our wages because Arsene will never be able to build long term if we do not. It is that simple.
