I bet the Bendtner / Vela partnership would work wonders. Jumping the gun slightly here aren’t I? Oh, and by the way I am not saying that Adebayor shouldn’t be selected.. no no, just saying like.
Who has gone and taken the sunshine? I am not best pleased. What I am pleased about is what Arsene Wenger said yesterday about Carlos Vela.
“He has played the whole season at Osasuna on the left wing and he had to work hard there. But for me it is not his position he is a central striker, an Eduardo type.”
Which kind of answered my concern a couple of days ago about why would we have two young left wingers who need first team football to get used to the demands of Premier League football.
I have had the nagging feeling in the back of my mind about our strikers. Although I rate them all pretty highly, we do not really have the player that can play on the shoulder of the center back, make an intelligent diagonal run and receive a through pass from the likes of Cesc, Rosicky Hleb etc
Bendtner is a cross between John Hartson and Dennis Bergkamp. He has good feet, likes to drop into deeper positions and play others in but he is also powerful in the air and physically strong.
Van Persie does not sprint onto passes, he makes passes. He wants to be on the ball turning defenders, making room for a left foot strike.
Adebayor is a power and pace player who likes to be involved in alot of the build up play whether it is in wide areas or dropping in the hole.
Eduardo is the closest thing to what I am talking about. But as he not blessed with terrific pace, he is more of a penalty box predator. The best at the club at what he does for sure.
Theo Walcott is that kind of player but I think Wenger wants to keep him out wide. There is alot of talk about his education out wide but I wouldn’t be surprised if we hardly ever see him in a central position, especially if he has the season that I think he will have next season.

Even though we finished a mere 4 points behind the Champions and were second in the goalscoring charts I still think the team played in circles a little to much. Hleb, Rosicky and Fabregas are what I call circular players. They are all technical ball players who are good at passing and creating chances, trouble is we do not always have enough outlets, enough triangles, enough penetration. Walcott, Vela and perhaps even Ben Arfa would convert those circles into triangles. I would gladly sacrifice some possession for some penetration. In a football sense of course. Moving swiftly on…
Back to young Theo (what on earth am I gonna say when he grows up?), the lad continued his good goalscoring form with yet another under 21 strike for the erm.. under 21s.
Some other fat dude scored the other goal (name slips my mind *ahem*) in the 2-0 victory against the Welsh.
